Yeah, I'm thinkin' my perception that there's some slight hitching is just on my end.  Maybe the way they handle the shafts of light and shading makes me think there's some slight stuttering.  In any case, it's certainly quote playable...and a great deal of fun.  Levels come fast and furious before 10, but it seems to level off at that point and become quite a bit more challenging.  I'm really enjoying it so far...again.

last night I wandered into a quarry area and was told the enemies were too much for me, but I dispatched them all using strategic retreats and forcing the archers/mages to come around trees.  Killed some demon thing too that came out of a big ball of magic that I was warned to stay away from too.

it seems the enemy AI isn't smart enough to come around corners using a wide approach, instead they hit the wall.tree/rock and hug it so ranged baddies are easy to get within reach if you use cover.

I'm still loving this game. I hit level 15 or 16 and I have my tower. I haven't played past that part. I agree with others. The choosing 4 to live part was a really great quest. I hope I get some time to explore a bit more over the weekend.

Something that irritates me is the complete lack of logic concerning the keys. Keys left laying around that open chests - with keys that open doors and so forth. I know it's a fantasy RPG but could you imagine a book or movie where they found 50 keys that just so happened to be for the next door and or chest?

I found a key at the bottom of a cauldron that was full of lettuce. It seemed to be an odd place for a key.

That was in the mill and if you read the miller's mind he said he hid it there to keep it away from his wife-I forget why. But yeah, most of the key stuff is illogical.
I have to admit The next area after you get the tower is a bit frustrating. I can't for the life of me keep track of the main quest. Invisable barriers are annoying. I then got all the seeds and then got blocked inside that temple and couldn't figure out why. Had to go online for that answer. So I just defaulted to my usual in rpgs in that I just go everywhere I can and clean out every area I can and then most things work themselves out.

finally made it through the trials.  I've noticed there seems to be a crazy difference between weapons.  one I founc ealry on but couldn't use until I hit level 14 does about 100 more damage than other weapons I have, including ones I can't use yet.  I literally quadrupled my damage output once I hit 14.

# The interact button now also takes all items in a container
# Compatibility fixes are present for various graphic cards (black screen problem)
# A system fix was introduced that solves issues like invisible npcs
# A number of minor fixes were done

finished up the four choices on Sentinel Island last night.  I let them sort each other out, the only one I gave a nudge to was:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Igor.  I mean how can you apss up having your own Igor?  I picked the captain chick for trainer; her accent was hawt and I was going to pick her anyways, but she also beat the other trainerin combat.  I mindread the alchemist who was talking about Allen's brew and found out he was lying, so I picked the pompous one.  Even though the two swords from the blacksmithing competition were practically the same I picked the drunkard.

one minor annoyance:  I've noticed the game doesn't differntiate between playing a male or female; I've had my Slayer chick called a him in a few cutscenes.  I'm also still annoyed over the nerfing of my sword.  seriously, it's a single player game, why would you nerf stuff like that?  I know it definitely went down in damage because the dragon elves became challenging all of a sudden even though they were the same level.

oh, and a small tip:  once you unlock it put at least oen skill point into the healing spell.  needless to say it can come in really handy.

They nerfed my sword as well. Probably the same weapon you were using. Right at a point where I really needed it.  I really need to use my potions now. I think I will be fine doing Aleroth. Mission is pretty simple, just frustrating.

So am I the only one still playing? I must say the difficulty spikes are kinda annoying. Leading to my # 1 game hatred: repeating. Dragon combit in the air is kind of a pain as well as other flying things seem to move 3x's as fast as I can. Only way I can beat them is the area effect thing. Still motivated to keep playing and get to the expansion game.

I just finished - logged over 100 hours (Steam). I really enjoyed this game overall (part one). At times I dropped the difficulty to Casual (toward the end), because of the tedium and incessant kiting required. Mostly this was due to fatigue (after 85 hours) I was just getting a bit tired. And, some of the fed exing got a bit much. As some have said, the difficulty spikes and wanes, but overall just a great game IMHO.

I am going to hold off on Flames of Vengeance and start Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. But I will definitely get back to it. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did.

Yes I can't let this thread die. I'm loving the sky keeps. At first I hated them. I was kinda clueless and a tad weak. Now I love cleaning them out and finding out what's in those chests, with the nice boss battles at the end. Anyone strong enough to wade in and take on a mob? I have to kite out a few at a time, even with the new uber weapon I found.

got some more play time this weekend and while I appreciate some humor now and then sometimes they're so blatantly obvious about trying to make a joke it takes me right out of the game.  a prime example:  your three helpers in the tower

Spoiler for Hiden:
Tom, Dick and Harry

still having fun though.

Yup some of it is rather corny and a tad forced. The lady who talks to you as you complete tasks is pretty good though.
There were two sections where I wound up turning the difficulty down.
Spoiler for Hiden:
The end of the dry well quest where you have to fight as a dragon. Just kept getting killed on normal. The last mission in Aleroth where you have to keep all enemies off the mage for 1 minute. Could not get closer than 10 seconds on normal.
Thank God for difficulty settings or I probably couldn't have finished the game.

LOL, I just noticed that if you save before opening a chest you can reload the game to see if you get a better drop.  I opened up the chest in the private quarters of the tower to find a really cool set of legendary earrings, but forgot to save and got killed soon afterward.  I reloaded, only to find to my dismay a lame heroic weapon and some gold, but then I realized I could save in front of the chest, open it, and then reload if I got junk again.  as random as the drops are I doubt I'll find the earrings again but at least I got a shot at a better drop.

OK, first  thumbsdown for me gameplay wise:  you cannot target ground enemies in dragon forms.  I just started the fjords, saw a bunch of goblins, figured I' strafe them with dragonfire, and then watched them disappear when I morphed.

They do have plenty of targets you can destroy in dragon form. you will find them. I didn't like the dragon parts very much myself. Way too twitchy for me. If the enemies didn't flit around like mosquitoes it would have been better. i'm almost done with the main game and ready for FoV.

Grabbed this yesterday, and have put in about 5 hours so far (up to level 11).  Really enjoying it, but have a couple questions:

1.  Is there any place to "rest" and regain hitpoints?  Or do you have to either use potions or let them regen on their own?  Man, those potions are expensive!
2.  Many weapons will give a damage range (i.e. 18-35), then list "other types" of damage (i.e. 6-10 magic damage, etc).   Is that "other type" included in the damage range listed, or is it over and above that?
3.  How often should I be mindreading?  Doing it to every NPC would be a massive XP drain, but I can't help but feel like I'm missing something by not doing it enough.
4.  Any recommended builds for a Warrior?  I'm thinking I'd like to mix in a couple spells (mainly just so I can hit those archers and mages that keep running away from me), but don't want to water down my character.

1- no, it's either potions or let yourself regen.  I'd recommend putting at least one skill point in the heal spell.

2- if you look on the hero screen there is a entry down near the bottom right hand side that says 'weapon damage'.  that figure is all the damage a weapon does.

3- I find mindreading merchants is what gets you the discount.  it's cheesy, but I have on occasion quicksaved, then used mindread and quickloaded if it was a waste,

I reccommend putting points into mindread and regen. I am well into the flames expansion, and there is more than enough exp points to make up for it and many cool things from mindread. I have used mindread on everyone and am level 42 and still leveling. I also put points into wisdom so I level faster. To me the best warrior skills are
Spoiler for Hiden:
Whirlwind and 1000 cuts.
Also I put just enough into bow to shoot the pesky runaway guys. If you have enough in regen and aren't facing a mob then you can always outlast them. At least at normal difficulty.
