This game is going to destroy my gaming budget if it's even a little bit of what it promises to be.

Does Gamingtrend have review copies?    If so when can we expect a review?

I've not heard anything, but that doesn't mean someone else is covering it.
My sons is available on the 18 - his birthday is on the 19th.

No reviews yet.   No indication on when any are coming.    This is a lot of money to toss at something blindly.   I know my kids will probably still want it, but I'm trying to get a feel for whether it's worth purchases extra stuff for.

I imagine we'll start seeing reviews showing up around 12:01am on Sunday, maybe earlier, but yeah, no reviews is making me kind of wary.  Thankfully I have enough games coming out next week that I can hold off on a fourth one.

INCORRECT SIR!   We've been working on it.  Embargos and all that.   I'll get the embargo info from David, but impressions so far a pretty good actually.    smile  Sorry if that hurts your wallet....

Got a call from EB today - taking Mater as the extra char for the preorder. (Aidenn loves Cars more than Monsters Inc or PoTC - he hasn't seen any of the PoTC yet). Was thinking of Dash too (which is a short version of my youngest son)

Review embargo is tomorrow.  You still have time one way or the other, but the stuff I've heard so far is that it'll be worth it.

You area also thinking of driving to Target to get a Cars playset tomorrow, correct?

I'm going to use my advanced college edumacation to guess that this means this review is going to be a very positive one.

Looks as though I will be picking this up tomorrow as my main complaint (the price of the playsets) as been rendered moot by the 50% off sale at Target.

It's awesome that Target is having a huge sale like that on release week.

Yeah, I ended up giving in to the preorder bonuses (extra character and power disc pack) to preorder on Amazon.  I guess I will find myself going to Target tomorrow in search of one of these 50% off packs as well.   icon_eek

Just read a tidbit that might be useful for some of you....

If you want to play multiplayer in the story missions, you need two of that playset's characters to do so.   In other words, if you want to play Monsters U playset, you need to have two character from Monsters Inc.

This will mean I need to spend more cash tomorrow.

My wife just picked up the two playsets at WalMart and they had no problems price matching the 50% off deal at Target. Saved about $35! smile

Now I just need to pick up my preorder at GameStop.

Oh, at Walmart they also have the 3-Packs of Characters for $14.96 each! Incredible deal! smile

The playsets there are also only 19.96. Target still has the better deal on those, but still it is a $15 discount over Gamestop.

Wow - thanks for that Hetz. I knew about the Target playset deal, and picked up Cars there, but that's great on the characters. Now my kids can play together in all of the included playsets, after buying the sidekick pack. I went and picked up the villain one too; couldn't resist it at that price.

I saw this article showing just how much Disney Infinity was going to cost people...but then you all found things like 50% off. LOL

http://kotaku.com/how-much-is-disney-infinity-going-to-cost-you-1160485967

Still, there you go. Makes me not want to think about the Skylanders stuff I have (and I only jumped in on the second game).

I just had a minor dust up in a Target because their computers said the Cars Playset wasn't available until 10/15. I had to call the manager and point to their ad in the paper that showed the set that I was trying to purchase was right there, and I grabbed it from the giant display.

I normally don't blow up like that. I was shaking as I left the store. I don't get how people can rage on store employees like that without feeling anything. I've worked retail, I've been a recipient of that first hand.

It's been a rough week. But I got my Cars Playset, and now they know for future customers that there's a potential issue with their barcodes.

Still. I'm gonna go lie down for a bit.  icon_frown

So, I managed to get all the characters and playsets. I got all of them, except: Dash, Violet, Franchesco and the special Crystal Lightning McQueen, at least 50% off!  Those other figures I got at Toys R Us for Buy One, Get One 50% off. So, I ended up only paying full price for two characters.

I've never seen this type of a sale before on release week! There are Incredible deals all around!

I also managed to get two of the rare Power Discs....the Dumbo one and something with Buzz Lightyear on it.

Yeah, it seems reviews are all over the place on this. Game Informer gave it a 9, Forbes gave it a 9, IGN gave it a 8.7 and Gametrailers gave it a 8.6. I thought the Gametrailers review would have been even higher the way they were praising it the whole review.

Yet, it got a 73 here and I've also seen a 2/5 at another site.

Could be a love it or hate it type game.

Polygon has it at an 8, GamesRadar gave it a 2.5/5.

To be fair, I really enjoyed the game, despite its flaws. My daughter and I are having a blast with the different playsets and just dinking around in the Toy Box.

I really hope they work out these issues with the inevitable next-gen editions. I mean, I wouldn't have gone out and bought a Playset for a movie I didn't even like if I didn't think there was value in this game. This is a decent start to what could be a fantastic franchise. And that's fine.

But seriously, that Incredibles helicopter can die in a fire.

Also, a word of warning to people buying Power Disc packs at Toys R Us for a chance at the 10 exclusive power discs that they are offering. The Gold packs (with the exclusive power discs) only have Mikes Car in them as of now for an exclusive....meaning if you buy 5 packs off them you will get 5 of Mikes Car and 5 random non-exclusive discs. They are going to be releasing packs with the others later and its not clear yet how often a new one will be released.

So, don't buy a bunch of gold packs thinking you will get a bunch of exclusives. One guy I was talking to at GameStop had 6 of Mikes Car. Pretty crappy of Toys R Us to do that....since there are signs up saying that all 10 exclusives are available and they are randomly in the packs, when that is clearly not the case.

yeah, they put Disney characters in a game and you put it in front of kids.  How do you think the Teletubbies got popular? slywink

[edit] Ok, that made more sense in my head.  not that the Teletubbies had Disney characters, but that there is like a 99% chance that kids will love anything aimed towards kids that is on the TV.

Ok, so I have a few extra Power Discs that I'm willing to trade off for others if you've got extras. A handy guide if you're wondering which name corresponds to which disc: https://infinity.disney.com/power-discs#set1

My extras:

Fix-it Felix Repair Power (Disc 2 of 20)
Rapunzel's Birthday Sky (Disc 17 of 20)
Alice's Wonderland (Disc 12 of 20)
Carl Fredricksen's Cane -- I've got two of these (Disc 9 of 20)

I need:

Cinderella's Coach (Disc 6 of 20)
Kahn (Disc 7 of 20)
Nemo's Seascape (Disc 15 of 20)
Astro Blasters Space Cruiser -- one of the rare ones (Disc 19 of 20)

Anyone want to swap? biggrin

My kids are loving it as well.  Our only complaint so far is that 2 player requires 2 characters from the same world. So for instance the monsters Inc world only lets you play with monsters inc characters.  Luckily we bought some extra incredibles figures so they could at least play 2 player there.  Wish you could mix aand match characters across the worlds though.
