I can't remember if I actually read this somewhere or only dreamed it: Is Ubisoft actually working on a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil?

I remember being excited and wanting to tell you guys...so I presume it was just a dream as I'm sure you would know it before I did anyway.

Sad if it was just a wonderful dream...one from which I had to wake...

I sure don't know about it, if there is one. That much is for sure.

Would be one heck of a dream though if they did. biggrin

The director had talked about making a trilogy I think.  But the crap sales for the game pretty much ruined any chances of that happening.

If there's a sequel now it will probably be Double-D Jade and Pey'j the Pimp vs. the Nazis.

Isn't the designer (Micheal Ansel?) working on King Kong?  I thought I had read somewhere that if King Kong does well enough there is a chance it could convince Ubi to give him another chance on Beyond Good and Evil because he would be more visible as a game designer.

Yes because Peter Jackson loved BG&E so much.

But...but...that Kong demo was pretty bad, right guys? Does this really give us a lot of hope?

Regardless. It will sell a GOzillion copies.  If that's what it takes to get a sequel, I'm fine with that.

After King Kong, Ancel is working on Rayman 4.  I wouldn't count on seeing a sequel to BG&E, but if Tak can get 3 sequels, who knows? slywink

Apparently the Tak games sell pretty well and don't have the huge budget.  They make money while BG&E surely didn't recoup its marketing budget, let alone production budget.  There was an interview with the head of the studio behind Tak on Gaming Age.  Combine that with the licensing (a cartoon in the works or something) and it appears Tak has more consumer appeal.  Critical numbers don't pay the bills when the game is selling for $10 a few weeks after release.

Ah well, we can dream.  Maybe some Pey'j brand pork rinds can help offset costs...
