I'm wondering at this rate how they can keep the loot fresh and exciting
Its like the polar opposite of what it was pre-patch.

Definitely agree it's almost the exact opposite.  It's like someone killed Scrooge (aka Jay Wilson) and now Santa is giving out all the toys he had stored up for 2 years.

Of course you do the run the risk of having cool loot not seem so cool anymore, but thus far I haven't found that to be the case.  Of all the legendaries I've had drop, only a couple were truly special.  I think at the highest levels there are more possibilities for special affixes and prefixes, both class specific and not, and those will be what creates differentiation.  An example: a pal of mine got a weapon yesterday that not only boosted electrical damage, but also had a proc that could turn an enemy into an electrical turret of some sort.  There's also a mod that gives you your own personal treasure goblin, who drops a rare every time he picks up 15 (or something like that) normal drops.  And I think Forge got one that increases the number of pets he can have.  It's great to see them showing some creativity alongside the new generosity.  Now if only they'd allow us to trade at least between friends...

play with your friends if you want to trade with them.  It's great how it is, if you could trade openly with friends, people would just friend up a real money dealer and buy something, then defriend.

I don't understand the new difficulty levels. The game scales with the level of your character now, but you can still choose Normal, Expert, etc. I tried playing in Expert because my character was in Nightmare before, but the enemies were much too difficult. So why does the game scale yet let you choose a difficulty?

They scale in level to you, so you always have a comparable enemy.  The slider scale lets you enhance damage dealt and hp of mobs by set %'s to earn more gold and xp and loot.

This way you never fight stuff higher level, and you areas don't have lower level enemies just because it's an earlier part of the game.  End result is you get the challenge you want, in any act or stage you want it.

Also you should have no problem on Expert if you were in Nightmare before imo.

Really going through the levels with the current bonus. Started a new barbarian on expert. Just finished Act I and I think I am level 38. Was pretty easy too, so going to bump it up to Master for Act II.

Since I had reset the story with my Demon Hunter a few days ago I couldn't jump into Act V. I am reserving my Wizard for a possible Act V playthrough with the group I took her through Inferno with, so that changed my plan and now I am started fresh at Act I with a Crusader Tongue

At least I'll get all those boss achievements that were replaced when they retired all the ones based on the old difficulty levels.

So is a Blizzard flunkee more likely to counterfeit my passport or my driver's license? I'm debating which image to send to see if I can finally fix my authenticator situation. Yes I'm paranoid, it's just a question of which would contribute least to my paranoia.  paranoid icon_razz

Went through the same thing. I didn't feel comfortable with their way of getting my account running and current again. I just opened another account, and started from scratch.

Use your DL.. Then go out and commit several felonies and run, leaving your license behind ( mess up the pic first). Then when they steal your identity, they go to jail for the felonies and you take theirs!

Ritt invaded my game yesterday just as I killed a miniboss and a bunch of good loot dropped.  As I mentioned to him, I haven't played multiplayer Diablo since I got killed in town in Diablo 1 and someone stole all my stuff.

How do loot drops work now?  Is the equipment I see drop just mine to grab, or do we need to roll need before greed or some such before anyone picks anything up?

I'm still traumatized by the time I got taken on one of my first WoW dungeons escorted by friends way higher level than me (Razorfen Kraul?) and I clumsily looted a bind on pickup item which apparently was the whole reason my friends were even trying the dungeon.   icon_frown

I'm pretty sure all players in D3 get their own loot drops that are not visible to other players.

Ok whew.  I felt a little uneasy grabbing the bind on pickup access key for Heroes of the Storm since I already have access, but it's good to know I didn't deny ritt anything after all.

Any loot drop you see is yours and you can only trade with people involved in that particular play session.  You will see a timer on the loot and the names of the people you are eligible to trade with in the items tooltip

Loot that drops is all yours. Each player gets their own drops and you can't see theirs either.
Beat the game last night on Tor1 - took 2 tries to get it done. Talk about tough ass battle.

Adventure mode is fun and I got some great upgrades over the expansion - talk about weird though: replacing legendaries with yellows smile took me a while to get over the mindset that the yellows were in fact better than my oranges.

Blackjack, seriously, you shouldn't have any issues with this.   I did it and never had a credit issue.
OK but did you send a driver's license image or a passport image? Maybe it simply doesn't matter, but I figure whatever's less likely to get abused (intentionally or not) is what I'll send in. I just don't have anyone else's specific experience to go on to this point.

I like what I'm reading/hearing about the expansion and revamp so certainly I'd like to get back into it soon.  icon_smile So hopefully this my last post about my paranoia.  icon_smile

Really what turned me off of D3 wasn't the auction house stuff or the loot; I just kept running into massive, seemingly random spikes in difficulty levels within a playthrough. Like I'd mow through most of a level and then a random spawn would mash me into the ground repeatedly. And I never much liked the console-like boss battles where you'd have to restart the entire boss encounter to get to the point where I got face palmed. In, say, Grim Dawn, the boss's damage at least stays in place (he doesn't magically self heal if you die before you can finish him).

Actually I get mad just thinking about D3 in this way. Maybe I should stay away.  icon_lol I certainly had lots of love for D3 in late beta, and I get wistful looking at all the gameplay videos I posted about it.

I decided to start a new crusader to take all the way through the entire game.  Just getting into Act V now and hoping to savor the new content.

So far the Crusader is absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure if it's just the newness of the class or if they went out of the way to make it more fun, but I really like it. It's like what I had hoped the monk would be like in terms of having tanky offensive/defensive capability along with support (heals/shields/buffs). I'm wondering if/how they will differentiate the monk now.  D2 paladin fans will probably really like the overall look/feel.

Another bonus of starting from lvl 1 is the game all around is just a better experience. Crafting is finally a viable (and useful) solution for gear, and with the improved drops, you can keep upgrading from different sources far more often than ever before. It's just a much better play experience and all those lower level things the blacksmith can make are no longer useless. Couple in the Mystic in Act V and gear customization is really just at a whole new level of awesomeness.

I'm still not a big fan of the skill/level system, but with all the great loot changes it doesn't bother me as much. I do like that I can try out every skill with no penalty or consequence, so I can pretty much design whatever build I feel like and then optimize/customize through gear later on.  I just got a drop that makes the hammers from Blessed Hammer bigger on screen - so cool!

What difficulty level are you playing at?  In Normal I've never seen this.  Honestly I barely used a potion the entire first 4 acts.  If you are in Expert or Hard (or Torment?) it's likely you just aren't geared up for that difficulty, which sorry to say is kind of your own choosing lol.  The game is fairly well balanced now in terms of presenting the amount of challenge you want relative to your level and gear.  Certainly you can get unlucky with a walled/frozen/arcane crazy combo, but again, in Normal even the worst combos have failed to kill me.

This is kind of a side topic, but that's why I prefer games like this vs. something like Infamous.  Here at least I can always go back and level or gear up to ensure I can get through something that's kicking my ass, whereas in Infamous there's not much I can do except try again and again and again.

So is a Blizzard flunkee more likely to counterfeit my passport or my driver's license? I'm debating which image to send to see if I can finally fix my authenticator situation. Yes I'm paranoid, it's just a question of which would contribute least to my paranoia.  paranoid icon_razz

Drivers License ..  I guess it comes down to comfort level..   I just didn't want to lose access to my WoW toons

Thanks. Well, my driver's license is hideous (the DMV camera lady made me look like a bloated carp with a huge mole under my left eye; when I don't have a mole at all! How do they DO that!  icon_razz) but I figure the worst a Blizz flunkee can do is copy it to go buy beer.

Hopefully my next post will be that I regained access to, well, anything Blizzard.

Console release date please!

So much this.

Well I guess I could take you two out to Applebees and a movie or something when it releases if it means that much to you.

It's out on PS3, right?

Yep and I enjoyed it so much more on the console that I'm skipping the PC xpack and waiting for the PS4 version.

I'm doing the same, even without playing the PS3 version.

I had also reset my story with my WD, quite on accident.  I powered her back through to the end and killed Diablo before expansion, but apparently I had forgotten to talk to the angel so when I logged on to play RoS I had to rekill Diablo real fast to start new content.   Best part being the quick Diablo kill took my 75% through lvl 60 and I was lvl 61 five min after I logged on.  Leveling feels quick to me so far.
