I was asking about the existence of a (physical) user manual because I generally think Blizzard's are excellent and full of enough lore that they are entertaining in their own right. I know that I enjoyed reading the Starcraft (1) manual far more than I ever enjoyed playing Starcraft. So if the manual included in a boxed copy is of similar quality to their older games, then having a physical copy has an edge over just buying it digitally.

Odd how after the beta I thought I would wait a while, but I do find myself tempted to get this. I guess in the end - it's freaking Diablo!

The irony is that all I want to do is to play single player. I won't ever play this game MP anyway.

I do miss manuals and such, but I guess nowadays they tend to tell stories through million dollar budget cutscenes rather than, you know, having us read. 

I remember the day manuals died -- it was the day I bought Microsoft's (remember when they published computer games???) Motocross Madness. I tilted the box open, and out came a jewel case, and a skimpy little slip of paper with a few paragraphs of instructions. I remember exclaiming, "Where the hell's the manual???" But hey, we're saving trees, right?

I wouldn't say that just yet. Over 20 minutes since launch and I've yet to go past the login window. At this rate I would have been better off just getting up early instead of staying up late.

The cursor stays in the password field most of the time after a failed login, but it will randomly jump to the username field instead, making what you just said very likely to happen eventually.

You shouldn't have to enter a key, it's already tied to your account.  Did the installer provide you with 2 options to click?  I saw one to enter key and one for something like "I already registered".

I haven't been able to find one yet, either; that said, the game installed fine and loaded to the login screen and let me watch the cinematics without actually asking for it (and my Bnet account page says Diablo 3 is "active" on my account), so I'm wondering/hoping the message about a key was just for people that might have grabbed the installer from somewhere without pre-ordering first.

Everything is tied to your bnet account now, so when you login to your account at battle.net, diablo 3 should show as "Active".  As far as I can tell, only the boxes will come with a key to activate.

Sounds like the Asia launch was a bit of a disaster - digital copies of the game basically didn't get activated right, and GMs are having to activate accounts one by one. Retail game is fine, apparently. And the servers, as expected, are yo-yoing up and down.

Hope this digital purchase 'Error 12' doesn't affect the NA region...

They're doing midnight release events, aren't they?  If so, I think you'll be out of luck if you're not there at midnight.  Maybe some other big box store that doesn't do midnight?

Check the website - only certain locations are doing the midnight thing.  I called my local BB and they said they will be putting 10 - 15 CEs on the shelves at opening time.  So I'm hopefully flying out of work to grab one at 10am!  And the CE strat guide too (for the bookmark and art extras...  ) .

Nobody buys PC boxed games at Best Buy anymore (except me, about once a year  ). It's really just a question of if your local store bothers to stock the CE at all.

I have a really miserable production day shaping up at work tomorrow so have fun all you insomniacs.

Watched a guy from Korea play. Talk about multi tasking batman. He was ALT TABing out from the game to IM and outlook and back every 15seconds or so.  Crazy!

So apparently there's a little known option called "Elective Mode" hidden in the options.

When turned on, this removes some of the restrictions on which skills can be mapped to which buttons, essentially opening up a larger variety of character builds than with it turned off, where skills can only be put on a specific button.

Make sure to turn this on to get the most from your game.

Had something go wrong with my digi download. Tried to use downloader to scan/fix whatever was broken and didn't work.

Restarted download four hours ago. 2.9/7.6 gigs. THIS BETTER FINISH AND BE RIGHT BY 8 AM.

Last time I do digital download otherwise.
