Probably not, but some version may be

Quote
Blizzard's upcoming PC game Diablo III appears to be headed to consoles, if recent job postings by the company are accurate.

According to the company's Jobs Directory (as discovered by Gamasutra), Blizzard is currently looking to fill lead designer, lead programmer, and senior producer roles very specifically for a console version of Diablo III.

A console port has never been denied, though this is the first confirmation we've heard of it existing. Judging by the senior roles that are being filled, it would appear that the port is in the very early stages of development.

Update: Blizzard has issued an official statement on its Battle.net forums, clarifying that "this is not an announcement of a console title," and that the team is "currently exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles."

The full statement follows:

As some of you may have seen over on the Diablo III home page, we're currently exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles. As we've said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we're interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in contributing to such a project.

To further reiterate what's posted on the home page: this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs, and we have no intention of allowing a console interpretation to delay or otherwise affect the release of the game. As always feel free to discuss this topic here, but please note that we don't have any further details to share at this time.

If you or someone you know would be interested in joining the Diablo team, then head over to the job posts to check out the requirements and submit an application.

The statement can of course be interpreted in a variety of ways. What do you think this could mean? Let us know in the comments.

I dunno, I don't see why it can't be converted to a controller. Managing your attacks seems simple enough, I just imagine aiming at specific targets would be the only challenge, and not a big one at that.

Aye, Sacred 2 had a pretty awesome control scheme, and brought over everything from the pc version as well, and did it spledidly.

Because there's no way you'll be able to use all your skills with ease w/o constantly pausing to into a menu. They will either have to remove arenas or make them mind numbing retarded that no one will want to play them anyways.

When I played the arenas we had like 6 skills on our bar along with the 2 quick skills you can change. You have think in an instant and have no time to fumble with buttons that a controller has. yeah, pvp isn't a big part, but arenas were freakin awesome fun. This directly translates into the SP as well.

Diablo 3, as we know it, we will NOT be coming to consoles. I stand by my diablo related statement.

They could easily map the hotkeys to a controller. It's not like console players would be playing against PC players in arena. So it would be an even playing field.

They could bring it to the PS3 and offer mouse and keyboard support as Sony officially support them on their system.

Not that I don't love my consoles, but PC gaming (native games, anyways) a more refined gameplay.

I hope Diablo comes to the consoles; I don't think that my Macbook can run it. And I'm not sure why people think that it would be hard to translate the controls to a console; there have been a number of Diablo-type games on consoles that work well.

Does Blizzard really need to see how well it would sell?  I think there's enough cross pollination of PC and Console gamers that it would sell like hot cakes even if Torchlight bombs.

Exactly.  And you don't think Kotick wants it?
As far as the controls, I have the solution: dual stick shooter.

Call me crazy but, not having played D3 yet....or actually seen it played other than the official videos....why couldn't this be easily played on a 360 controller?

D2 could be easily played on a controller i'm sure.

Putting this on consoles would eliminate the majority of cheating i'm guessing.  Though, having to buy a 2nd console just to mule items would SUuUuCK.

I would be about 100x more likely to buy D3 on the Xbox than on the computer. Mainly because I'm sure my computer won't be able to run it. But also because hotseat co-op (is this the right term?) would rule.
