Woo Hoo!

I love D2X, for some reason I always go back to it inbetween other games. Thanks for the patch heads-up!

Hmm ... maybe I'll reinstall once the new patch comes out. I played through the original, and then installed the expansion, but never made it into act five with my uber boring druid. Game became a chore, so I stopped. Now I decided to go about this in the single player method, because I wanted to experience the fifth act completely, but maybe that was kind of a foolish thing to do, concidering I'd played through the whole game before. Ehh, whatever.

I played the SP version of this game for months when it first came out.  I'd play MP every now and then for a change of pace, but I liked SP better.  Eventually, I got tired of it and stopped playing.  Then, when the 1.10 patch came out, I started several new SP characters and resolved to win the game at least once with all of them...but I ended up getting bogged down in Act III (how I loathe that act) with most of them and stopped playing.  So, I never experienced most of what the 1.10 patch had to offer.  Maybe I'll make another go of it after this patch is released, if there's any new SP content...

Yeah, Act III killed the game for me. When I first played the game in SP, I had to push myself to get through it. I'm fairly certain that I stopped playing with my Druid in Act III.

How do you play D2 when you have a 20" or 24" LCD monitor? D2 only goes up to 800x600, so you either have a tiny window in the center, or full-screen the graphics look extremely pixellated.

He, you welcome the fact that you have the expansion so that you can set the graphics that "high", and you slog through the game anyway.

In the past 5 years, I've only owned a 15" monitor and a 17" monitor.  So, D2's never given me any problems, graphic-wise.   smile

About the only thing I feel that D2 did wrong was to keep such a tight fisted grip on the uber-goods and set items in the Single Player portion of the game

I realize there are MODS to address this .. and I run the "expanded stash" mod of olde .. but, ATMA doesn't deal with the expanded inventory block very well ... and neither did jamella's editor

So I just DL'd PlugY mentioned by Cofcos in another thread .. and this will give me opportunity to try it out

---

PS .. I'm amazed at how they support this game after so many years ... I realize they've sold "Muy Grande" units ... but Battle.Net doesn't make them any money does it? (banner ads?) ... I've never played Online

I grew tired of D2 for pretty much the same reasons. It's a hyper-addictive click-fest to be sure, but the uber-phat-loot is so goddamn hard to find in the single portion, it takes away the fun. The loot is in the game, but I have to go online to find it? Fuck that.

/slaps Blizzard

What are these modifications that boost loot drop chances in the single player? I use Shadow Keeper for character editing since I hate power leveling.

I'm not aware of any drop percentage boosters .. sorry to mislead .. what I meant was the utils like ATMA and editors such as you mentioned "Shadow-Keeper" and the Jamella editor of olde

but ..

PlugY .. is ... PlugY @ Phrozenkeep

(sorry .. I don't know how to do a clean link in BB code)

I've yet to try it out though ... It's mentioned in this thread

Octopus Thread

From what I read in that thread .. it "can" add all online perks and benefits as well as the "world event"

You know I got D2 in a trade a while back and tried to start it up a bit when I was studying for the bar. I had tried to get into the SP at least 2 or 3 times previously, without much luck. Anyways, once again I was just bored with it. I haven't in all fairness given it as much time as I should, but its just...not that interesting for some reason, from the no real saves to the rather mediocre loot in SP to the outdated graphics to the click-click-click stuff. I dunno, but after playing the DS2 multiplayer beta I was left wondering why I would bother trying it again. I am sure I will though smile

we should all keep in mind how long it took the last patch to materialize after initial "any-day-NOW" rumors appeared

and this isn't even an "Any-Day-NOW" rumor

PlugY .. is ... http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1267

(sorry .. I don't know how to do a clean link in BB code)

It's not hard.  You just have to do it a few times.  I'll use parentheses instead of brackets so it displays correctly and show ya how.

Basically you hit the (url) button, type or paste your link, then hit the (/url) button again.  You'll have this:
(url)http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1267(/url)

Then you change the first close bracket to an = sign so you get:
(url=http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1267(/url)

Then you add the close bracket again but at the end of the actual web address so you get:
(url=http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1267)(/url)

Last, in between the two areas in parentheses you type whatever text you want like this:
(url=http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1267)Click on this link you crazy mofos!(/url)

That's it.  Now instead of the original long link (which can break horizontal scroll for those running in low resolutions) you have this:
Click on this link you crazy mofos!

Voila!

-------------------------------

Oh and Diablo II is so amazing.  I usually play through the whole damn thing once a year or so.  But now that I have my new LCD at 1280x1024 I think playing it again at 800x600 will make baby Jesus cry.

Hopefully they'll change that with a patch.

thanks warning, if you can believe it, I never knew that either.

Maybe I will leave my Diablo2 waiting for this patch to come out. I should at least get to Act 2 before giving up again.

Oooh, Neverwinter Nights is tempting Hiro. I never finihed HOTU.

Bah, this looks to be mostly MP stuff.  Of course, that won't stop me from playing for a bit, since I never gave the 1.10 patch a fair shake anyway.

More games should follow Sid Meier's example and include a database of info INSIDE the game interface

Diablo could really use a "Diablo-a-pedia" .. just to keep track of rune words and cube recipes

looking up the info on a spiral notebook breaks immersion  smile
