Should be on store shelves this Wednesday for the low, low price of $20 - Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition MOST NOTABLY features a new difficulty mode much like Ninja Gaiden Black did.  FINALLY, a difficulty that normal gamers can play the game on!

I got to about the 4th mission and was frusrated/getting whooped when I first had this game...and this new difficulty level peaks my interest.  WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED in this special edition you may ask?

Well, there's a new playable character, this place called the Bloody Palace which throws different challanges at you on each floor (and there are 9,999 levels...wo-wo-wee-wo), new boss fight...sorta what you'd expect.

Any DMC3 fans here want to chime in?  Is this $20 game a gem we should all be picking up?

OH, and with THIS Best Buy coupon (print it out):

http://img492.imageshack.us/img492/3677/coupons1sm9xv.gif

You'd be getting it for $15.00 (since it will be shipped as a greatest hits game ala Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution)!!

by the way, the coupon clearly says 'no copies'.  So, use at your own risk.  Every time I hear of one of these, take them in and try I always get rejected.  Good luck though.

I am absolutely 100% going to buy this version. Ididnt keep the original because it was too difficult at first and I have very little patience to put in the time building up the moves and powering up my skills early on in the game like the Gamespot review reccomends. For 20 bucks and a bunch of new crap I will be on this like white on rice.

I used a printout of that coupon the other night to pick up Kameo at Best Buy.

I've used the coupon once as well - no problem.  I guess YMMV.

I've got a question.. I have not played Ninja Gaiden or DMC3.  Which should I get first?  (I can't afford both.  Time-wise.)

Good question, Bob.  I have no idea biggrin

Best Buy didn't have it, GameStop did and my Cold Fear trade-in made it $15 LOL biggrin

Ninja Gaiden Black, even with the pussy option, is exceedingly hard. What I have read is that this version of DMC3 with the easy mode enabled is much more playable for those of us that just cant seem to "get" whatever it is that makes playing NG and DMC3 fun rather than an exercise in pure frustration. I wont know for sure until I get DMC3 hopefully later though.

I have played DMC3, Ninja Gaiden, and Ninja Gaiden Black, and NGB is the most accessible of the three in my opinion, B    U     T, it is still harder than hell.  I will never get through it.  Like Calvin, I just don't have the patience to play a game enough to get the fighting system down to god-like perfection.

Since they are both cheap now, get both eventually and whack away.

Take the game back to the store and ask for your money back, that is the easiest way.

Went with NGB.  Used that $10 off coupon and got it for $20.  Haven't had a chance to try it yet.   The choice was easy since Best Buy didn't have DMC3 SE yet.

To access the unlocked easy mode, start a new game after seeing the message that you've done so and it should be an option.  Yes you'll lose any progress you've made to that point, but you'll gain a lot of satisfaction watching yourself tear a hole in the levels that frustrated you up to that point.

At least, that's how it worked on the regular edition.

I heard the "easy" mode that is unlocked after dying a few times in the "normal" mode (which was the regular editions "easy") makes the game so easy it's retarded.  I heard that it does combo's for you and essentially, it becomes a button-masher.

WELL IN THAT CASE, I DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' EASY MODE!!!!!!!!

TML May Cry at the difficulty, but I will conquer it.

OK, I really suck at these kinda games, but it's $15 at Fry's so I picked it up (along with Burnout:Revenge for $20.  Hooray for cheap gaming!).  I am going to find out how tough 'Easy mode' is.   I really needed a break from the solid wall to wall RPG's I've been playing lately.

finally spent a few hours with this yesterday, &, considering i pretty much never replay games, i'm surprised by how easy it was getting back onboard (even the almost mandatory orb farming, tho it's still early, felt like no big deal). what really changes the game for the better, more than anything else, is the gold save system - being able to continue from a waypoint rather than restart the level makes dmc3 much less frustrating & more enjoyable...
