There's some video showing off this game as one that supports eyefinity, aka 3 screens. Pretty common nowadays, but video of one of the developers playing with that setup made me want it something fierce.

Like the one I just posted? . And yes, it kinda made me want that setup too. I hear those new 3 gig GTX 580's are good for that....

Yeah, I actually saw the videos in a different thread. Anyway, I think the whole 3 screen thing may be as much a response to so many games these days abandoning the old standard of a 90 degree Field of View in games, and going to values like 70 or so. I'm not sure why they have done this, but you do lose out on situational awareness, but also on the feeling of being in grandiose environments and such.

Weird, why the use of "we" everywhere? Not sure what style guide that's from, but it just feels wrong.
People read first person narratives all the time, if using "we" was an attempt to try to get the reader more involved, it just gets confusing.

probably because: Jonathan Jacques-Belletette, Lead Art Director for Eidos Montreal and part-time Adam Jenson look-alike took us through our demonstration of the upcoming Deus Ex: Human Revolution. it sounds like it was hands on but chaperoned.

Thank goodness. I've been hating how so many games lock the FoV to really narrow views these days, kinda making wide screen monitors pointless.

one week to go! I just starter replaying the first game to get in the mood, went through the opening smashing up NSF soldiers with the crowbar (seems to take 3 hits at the beginning). it's kind of neat how I still remember some of the passwords and logins.

I wasn't really interested in this one until reading PC Gamer's review, but now I'm really on the fence. I had tried to play the first Deus Ex a few times, and just couldn't get into it (I know...burn the heathen!), so I'm hoping that updated mechanics are more appealing.

I ordered from Greenman as well and I bet we won't get the keys until the next day, which is a bummer but did get a good discount.

There's good news then. The original's mechanics don't quite hold up to today, same for presentation. Only original fans and people who can really get into the retro (crazy to think that something from 2000 is now retro, I'm getting old...) look and feel of it can make it through. This version takes the style of the original, and pretty much nails updating it with modern aesthetic and graphics, along with modern game mechanics. There's nods to older, more methodical and open styles of gameplay that the originals had, without the madness that was "drop you blind on liberty island."

I must be an original fan then; I'm making my way through the original right now and enjoying it just like I did the first time I played it. the only things I find clunky are the view when zoomed in using a scope seems too small and most of the Augmentations seem pointless as every time I do a replay I get by just fine with regeneration and the light augmentation. One thing I have discovered by looking through a FAQ that I never realized is that:

If you preordered from Green Man Gaming, they have the keys and are distributing them now. Unfortunately, they won't actually work until the game is officially released, so you can't preload the game

I noticed it pre-loading another 600 megs or so this morning. I think we need to sneak someone into Valve so they can hit the on switch.
