Muscle-car crash-racing with crazy physics goodness and minigames from the makers of Rally Trophy?  IN!

This is the quote from 3DGamers, which is one of the mirrors:
Quote
The playable demo for FlatOut is now online, offering the first opportunity to take this upcoming crash-prone racing simulation by Bugbear Entertainment for a spin. Details on the demo's contents are however not available, so your mileage may vary.

Probably best to head over to someplace like this post at Blue's News for the list of available mirrors.

Get your motors running, boys!

If we could turn on seatbelts, I might be interested in this as an arcade racer to play with my son. As is, I'll keep waiting for Crashday. In the meantime, I'm enjoying Richard Burns Rally and installing Xpand Rally (Starforce and all) as we speak.

It seems like an arcaderally game but is it a arcaderacer? The reason I ask is I really do not like rally games...  I understand it is very much a crashinggame really but is it rally or racing underneath that?

Well it is sort of a racer underneath, but nothing hardcore like a true rally game.  There are races on oval tracks, street pavement and dirt roads.  There are also a ton of other mini games to play like Demolition Bowl, Figure 8 racing, driver tossing, and all sorts of stuff.  I would say to definitely give it a try if you like any sort of driving game.

i gave the demo a try this afternoon and have to admit that i'm pretty impressed.  the graphics and physics are extremely well done, and the racing is a lot of fun.  although it's far from a realistic racer, the physics do add a different feel to the game that works pretty well.  there were a few times where i hit small bumps that sent my car flipping through the air, but those were rare.  i'll be keeping an eye on the final game once it hits the shelves Cool
