Sweet, maybe I can play tonight then. Put it on the back burner cause when I usually play at 2am there was no one and the computer is boring easy to play against. We should be getting our coupons tomorrow too. I hope it's good for any stardock product and for a further date.

50/50 chance of me being able to play tonight, but with the positive reports of the latest patches I'm excited to jump back into the game.

how many updates can this game get.  I had two yesterday.  It seems there's at least 1 to two updates a week.

I understand that there is a bug in the game which causes it to keep updating until you play a UK player smile

p.s  think 2 a week is understanding how many updates have occured this week!

That is the good thing with Impulse as we can push updates when needed.  The updates are being pushed to help solve any connectivity issues some are still having, along with some other fixes.  smile

lol

In my inbox today from Stardock: Demigod Now Available!

I guess that's a good sign, though.  I heard they were halting all marketing until they got these big problems sorted out so they must be pretty confident that the latest fixes will stick.  And what better way to test the recent patch than to have another surge of new members come in with a new weekend marketing campaign!  What could possibly go wrong? slywink

I'm on xfire as well as wonderpug

Hoping to be playing this game more often now that the connection issues are somewhat more straightened out.  Was able to get a couple games in with strangers recently and despite a horribly annoying desynch message popup that came up every 5 seconds at the end of the game after a couple ppl on the losing team left, everything went really smoothly.

so it seems that we might be able to modify the AI via LUA and have them fight against other AI. I actually think that would be pretty bad ass to experiment with.

also, they haven't sent out coupons yet, have they?

I don't know if I'm ready to say it's resolved, but it's better, at least.  Got a few games in last night and almost every one had pings lit up in yellow, but now you can still launch if that's the case.  So you can at least launch a match relatively quickly and easily now, unfortunately there seem to be occasional desynching hiccups once you get in a match.

I hope they move on to implement some kind of TrueSkill or player ranking system next.  It's tough to stay positive when you lose a match and see on the scoreboard that you've got better stats in every column than the rest of your teammates combined.

I think they'd do well to implement some kind of diminishing returns for Demigod kill bounties, so that it doesn't suck as much when one of your teammates gets killed a dozen times.  There would still be an incentive for the other team to keep going for the 13th or 14th kill on the newbie, but at least the newbie won't be feeding your opponents Ashkandors quite as quickly.

OK the improvements have made a huge difference, for the first time ever I managed to have a Pantheon game. The progress monitor showing how many players are waiting to join helps and the connections all linked in. Pretty much one of my favourite games  I have played.

Now for the weird bit. We should have been pwned - check out our victory! I think where they lost it was not buying the Giants, we always went for the improved units and as a result although they were the more powerful we owned the main parts of the map.

play some single player and you will learn smile. If you still will have questions - ask, or we can even play once together against AI and you will learn everything smile. It's better than playing multi in the beggining and loose all matches because you don't know much about the game yet.

Jerome and I just had a great game. We had the leveling under control they had the flags. However a double kill then gave us the advantage and Jerome being awesome with the mines won the day smile

Man, what a cool game, but WOW does it need a tutorial.  I checked out the video that's linked below, and it didn't give me anything that I hadn't already figured out in my first game (except that you can build things, but it didn't tell me how to do that).

I look forward to giving this a few more cracks.

What's the best newbie D-G do you guys think?  It seems like playing a general is a little more challenging.

IMHO - Rook is the easiest to play. That is why I like him - and he is cool anyway smile

In terms of building - it depends on the DG. Rook can build towers, others can't. Also dependant on the skill tree. Whilst I understand the comments re tutorial you'll see after a few goes it really wasn't required smile

On another note don't forget to keep checking your citadel for upgrades - game can be won or lost on your own leveling (killing creeps best way) and won or lost on how much battlefunds (I think that is the term - use tab to see) you gain. The more you upgrade your citadel - particularly the units the better.

Regulus is pretty easy and pretty damn good as well - he hits enemy demigods HARD and can keep his distance easily, and if someone tries to follow? Bad luck for them if you have your mines ready
