due this summer, this looks to be close to the Splinter Cell series, but instead of playing a US agent you are an agent of SMERSH during the Cold War.  did anyone play the first game?

the first was super cheap during the weekend with one of the DL services sales, but no, i didn't try it.  it looked dated, but interesting.  no reviews though, so i wasn't feeling too risky.

The first was a heluva fun game. I bought it after trying the demo. There was a lot of freedom in how you do missions. It had great stealth mechanics and lockpicking. It reminded me a lot of the Hitman games only without feeling like everything was contrived just to be a puzzle.

I played 7 of the 10 missions in the original game, and loved every minute of it (can't remember why I gave it up).
Each mission took like 2 hours for me. Very intense.
But you have to love the slow, deliberate style gameplay to enjoy it. You can't play it like a shooter. Well, you can, from time to time. In fact, some of those moments were really really great, when I just threw all caution to the wind and made a break for it.
