Yeah you're right it's the same video as the demo.

I'm the number 1 Dead Space fan so I may be biased, but the demo was friggen awesome.  Looks like flight is going to be a cool new addition.  Also the Javelin gun is great!!!  Can't wait for more!!!

Weapons seem a bit more powerful, which is a good thing since they're sending a larger variety of enemies against you. I definitely found the pulse gun, though mostly useless in the first game unless heavily upgraded, now is plenty useful. It's secondary fire is a traditional grenade launcher, great for clearing out the smaller guys. The javelin is extremely useful. Even if you miss, you can pop the secondary fire to send out electricity into the nearby area, stunning monsters. Didn't get a chance to use the line gun that much though.

Also pretty funny is how the basic plasma cutter, the mainstay on the first game, was left pretty weak in the demo to force players to try the other guns.

As much as those scripted grabbed by monster and shoot the glowy things are just that, scripted. I still find those little segments kind of fun.

when you play Dead Space 2 and you have a Dead Space 1 gamesave(any gamesave),you get Isaac's Plasma Cutter for freeee

http://kotaku.com/5722874/any-dead-space-gamesave-gives-you-og-plasma-cutter-in-dead-space-2

Whether or not you've completed the original Dead Space, if you have any game save file from it on your hard drive, you'll get Isaac's original plasma cutter free for use in Dead Space 2, which arrives Jan. 25.

Louis Gascoigne of developer Visceral Games told Joystiq that any upgrades to the weapon in the original won't carry over to the sequel. Still, it's a freebie and a hat-tip to those who played the first Dead Space. And if you haven't yet, the cutter's yours for the price of a rental.

Well, that sucks, since I'm jumping from 360 to PS3 for DS2.  I want Extraction for the Move.

Is there no plasma cutter in the new game? I have a save, but I'm not sure why I'd want the weapon when they'll have nice new weapons in the new game.

There is a plasma cutter, but it's different from the first game slightly. I think this one is just a new skin and a few tweaks.

Actually, all the weapons are much more balanced now, so the plasma cutter is still an effective base weapon, but no longer the premier weapon of the game.

Yeah I was wondering what the difference was too.  I didn't use the pre-order armor in DS1, because it was good at first, but not as good at the end.  I wonder if this will be the same way.

OK, what the heck is up with this? From the Amazon page for the Collector's Edition:

Quote
Collector's Edition includes PlayStation Move compatible game, replica plasma cutter, soundtrack, concept art and in-game items

So... the regular edition is *not* "Move compatible"?  icon_confused

They mean Dead Space Extraction, which is a port of the Wii game for the PS3 that supports move controls (but also basic controllers as well). It's included for free in the PS3 collector's edition.

Extraction is actually a really good rail shooter, plays pretty much like Dead Space, but on rails.

What Turtle said.  However, according to box scans at walmart.com, there is a demo of Extraction HD port in the normal edition.

Ah... that helps, seems like they should have just said that.  icon_wink

I already have Extraction for my Wii and can see how it would port pretty easily over the the Move controller.

That's odd.  My understanding was that every copy of ps3 dead space 2 is a "limited" edition (I.e.: dantes inferno divine edition) and has extraction included. Why not walmart?

Nope, there is actually a limited/collector's edition this time.  It's not like Dante's Inferno was on the PS3.

My secret hope, since there's a demo on the normal edition, is that you'll be able to buy Extraction separately.  I would love to play DS2 on the 360.

Yep the original press release said it would be sold separately on PSN/XBL.

At least some of the moms were cool enough to let them use their comments even after finding out it was actually to promote the game.

Speaking of jokes . . . it's an M rated title.  Who is the target for this ad?  I'm 36, and I'm really going to punish my mom buying this next week.   Roll Eyes

Actually, it's kind of easy to think up disturbing enemies. Just think of something that should be cute, like babies, or children, and turn them into monstrosities that are out to kill you.
