I suggest you guys load up your old saves then, one of the middle to later chapters. It was framerate drop galore.

Not an option for me since I sold the game after I finished it but I never noticed it at all and I'm pretty sensitive to choppy framerates. In fact, one of the things I particularly remember from Dead Space was that it was one of the first multiplatform games I played on PS3 where I never felt like the experience was hampered or second rate.

I have a Slim model, could that be affecting it?

Doubtful. You may just have had some unique situations that may have hurt the framerate here or there that most people wouldn't encounter.

I would think I'd have noticed choppy framerates myself, but never noticed anything at all.

Here's a synopsis for those who haven't been keeping track: Dead Space 2 picks up 3 years after the original game. Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, which was the site of the very first planetcrack on Saturn’s moon Titan. I don’t want to go into too much detail as that would start to tread into spoiler territory, but as you can imagine some bad shit goes down and Necromorphs get into the mix.

Anyone posted the Sony portion of the DS2 gameplay showing? I want to see how Isaac gets away from that big thing in the vents.
You can be sure that Extraction will make its way to the 360, but it may be separate in some way if Sony's paid for this exclusive. Paid DLC or even an XBL game?

Unless MS is going to launch new peripherals, it's hard to imagine how a lightgun game like Extraction would work with Kinect.

I may be a Dead Space fanboy, but I thought the conclusion was pretty good and showed some cool new stuff! http://www.giantbomb.com/e3-2010-dead-space-2-gameplay-demo-part-2/17-2734/

Yep, although it was still shooting the glowing yellow thing while a necromorph is grabbing you, but those segments are still pretty intense and well animated.
Also, just the fact that there's a human military ship shooting at Isaac is a sign things will get interesting.

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine! There was a key in the first game, but it was all messy...this is the first real good key I've found. I've been dying to translate the messages they put on everything!

Wow looks like you don't need the Move to play Extraction HD!? Also looks like it will be for sale on the PSN (and I'd assume XBL, too) ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - June 15, 2010 - Experience the panic before the terror! At the Sony Press Briefing during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Visceral Games(tm), a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that an exclusive Limited Edition* of Dead Space(tm) 2 will be released on the PlayStation(r)3 computer entertainment system. The Limited Edition will include the award-winning Dead Space Extraction, the prequel to the entire Dead Space saga, now featuring support for the PlayStation(r)Move motion controller. Launching January 25, 2011, Dead Space 2 will unleash a truly epic Action Horror experience that will bring the psychological thrills of deep space to a terrifying new level.
The Dead Space 2 Limited Edition will include Dead Space Extraction in full HD for the first time ever. Dead Space Extraction on PlayStation 3 will offer the entire single-player game complete with all-new trophy support, as well as co-op gameplay, using the new PlayStation Move motion controller, in addition to the standard DUALSHOCK(r)3 and SIXAXIS(tm) controllers. Players will be armed with an arsenal of weaponry and an easy-to-use control system customized to take full advantage of the capabilities of PlayStation Move. Dead Space Extraction will also be sold separately as a standalone game via the PlayStation Store.
"We're thrilled to couple two terrifying experiences in one box. With the Limited Edition, PlayStation 3 fans will receive real insight into the cause of the necromorph infestation and the destruction that followed. This is the genesis of the dark and twisted world Isaac inhabits," said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on Dead Space 2. "The addition of support for PlayStation Move allows us to bring a truly unique experience that was previously unavailable to players and we can't wait to see what they think."
