is in the works. it's not much news, but news of a sequel is good news anyway you cut it. the ad says pre-productio is almost done, so I imagine we'll be seeing DS2 next fall at the earliest.

I enjoyed Dead Space but I wasn't a huge fan of the combat, somehow it felt too brutish in contrast to the pace of the non-combat portions.

I'd love to see them add co-op if possible.

Dead Space really was an incredible game, and very underrated. Top-notch all the way around.

that would be fine,as long as in single player games the co-op partner is replaced by AI,like Resi Evil 5...if you are playing single player, then keep it like Dead Space 1

I love the first one and thought it was great, turning it into RE5 is a step in the wrong direction. I would like to see a greater variety in the environments though. That ship got old by about chapter 8. Maybe some outdoor planet environments and caves.

I love the first one and thought it was great, turning it into RE5 is a step in the wrong direction. ya or if they do include co-op, have it be like in the older splinter cells. where the co-op portions were sort of "stand alone games" specifically geared toward this type of gameplay. dont get me wrong, i LOVE me some co-op, and i LOVE me some co-op in main campaigns BUT BUT BUT it ISNT for every game. survival horror and i guess id call it "stealth action" games just dont have stories and mechanics that make it easy to simply drop a player in or out of the main storyline at will. well, at least without hurting the main storyline or changing the gametype (this is what RE 5 did in my opinion. it was NOT a survival horror type game, it was an action game with its own set of unique rules and mechanics).

As in there is no other person with you in single player mode? I agree with this. Actually in Dead Space 1 there were other characters running around on the ship. The other player could play a role similar to that. IE you don't have to be together the whole time, but could be in constant communication. I think it could be fun if your partner was off in another area and got scared as you were talking to them. Even though you aren't together maybe the other player would have to do something in another area of the ship so you could access something, etc.

Does anyone think RE5 is better? It wins automatically because you can move and shoot at the same time... also because it's just better all around.

I just bought Dead Space 1 at Best Buy for $14.99. I'm going to wait to play it until after Christmas since I'll have my new tv and I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm getting a surround sound system from my gf.

The sound is amazing in this game, so definitely hold out if you will be upgrading your sound system.

The more I think about this, the more I wonder how the game will be if Isaac is calling the shots. The first one was great because they were stranded alone on a derelict craft filled with monsters. As an engineer he had access to non-military (for the most part) weapons. How are they going to maintain that vibe with an engineer calling the shots? I think again to an Aliens type scenario where the good guys go in with superior tech, but are somehow stripped of their ability to use it? Also I wonder how the Unitology stuff will fit when they are "taking the fight to the necromorphs".

It's likely he joined up with the corporation, after all, who would come to that remote of a place to pick him up after the first game?
As someone said above, it'll probably be very much like ALIENS. Isaac gets picked up by the corp, as the sole survivor of 2 major infestations in one game, and with these infestations rampaging through space, they equip him with a team and force him out there to try and stop it.

Spoiler for Hiden: Ahh. I guess there is a little wiggle room since the game sold well enough to get a sequel. Personally I liked the way it ended though.

Looks like he hooked up with a Japanese corporation for his next suit of armor.
That said, there were multiple suits, and you didn't really get the suit shown in the previews for DS1 until you had tier 3 upgrades for it, so I expect the design may change.
That image is, however, a paint over of actual in-game models.

I think the split for the neck piece almost makes it look medieval to me. The helmet is pure anime though. Still, looks good to me. I like it more than the Bioshock-lite armor of the first game.

I think if you go back and look at the armor from part 1, you will see the neck had the same thing. It's what brings up the HUD in front of Isaac's face. Most of the images didn't have the angle that this GI cover has, so it didn't feature so prominently.

Wow, I got my issue in the mail and it's VERY anime. The legs especially look like something out of Final Fantasy. That's from the front though. From the back it still looks fairly similar to the old armor though.
