I played for about 20 minutes and haven't even made it out of base yet. I didn't even kill a zombie!

IGN gave it a 6.5, saying the graphics leave a lot to be desired and the load times are awful.

Also played for a bout 20 minutes.
Killed 62 zombies. Decided not to save at all so I can start fresh when I have more time.
Seems pretty much like the original in mechanics and playstyle. I did notice some graphics pop in.
I didn't do much shooting in the original, but what I remember of it it seems the mechanics are the same, but I'm not 100% clear on that.
Good zombie populations.
Not sure how to combine weapons. Did take a bunch out with a gumball machine though! Gumballs went everywhere after it broke.
Haven't seen yet how you tell the health of your weapons.
So far so good.
And the best improvement? TEXT SIZE. I can read it without squinting on my 30 inch HD set.
Huzzah!

the load times are awful.
There is a LOT of loading in just the pieces I saw. I forgot to mention that. Also, from what I've seen, albeit brief, it's already better than a 6.5. I wonder how the original would score today.

Did the zombie trip on the gumballs? It would be awesome if they were those tooth breaking gumballs and you could use them to trip up zombies.

Played for a short time before work. Graphics are not as good as some recent games, but I figure that's so that they can fit so many people on the screen at once. I made a combo weapon, which was cool. I wonder how you find more...do you just try different stuff? Also, can you only hold 4 items? I don't recall the first one being like that. For $5 it seems like a lot of stuff to go through, I'm happy about that. I do enjoy killing zombies. I even killed one with a lawn dart to the head.

Did they fix the first person shooting controls?
That is what made me stop playing the first game.

I don't remember how the first game was, but it seemed simple enough in Case Zero.

It's been a while but from what I can remember you had to aim with the left stick instead of the right. There was no way to change it.

In the original you gained slots as you leveled up. So I assume this is similar. How do you combine weapons? Do you have to find schematics?

Well there's workbenches and from what I can tell you just experiment with multiple items? That's how I did the first one, then I had a schematic learned in one of my status screens from then on. I haven't had a chance to try anything else or find a schematic lying around just yet.

i only played a bit before going to bed
the graphics i thought looked quite nice, but yeah i saw quite a few things popping in(gas canisters things like that)..and i did notice the loading screens a lot, some were for entering new areas others were for cutscenes
i have no idea how to combine weapons yet...i have a drill placed on the workbench,i thinking that i have to bring something that can go with it
i went up onto the roof of the garage and there is a sniper rifle there,so i shot a few zombies from where i was
i had a hard time pushing this trolly thing(figuring it out actually)with all the Zombies around me,so i decided to leave the game at that point and go to bed, gonna get back to it tonight

So the (imo) lame time thing is still in place in Dead Rising 2, I thought they would get rid of it. I just had to start my story over for the first time due to running out of time.
Also, how do you turn scratch cards into combo cards? I don't see anything about it in the tutorials or other.

Man, if they "require" you to die a bunch of times and build up your character before you actually start the damn game again, I may be out.
At least they're letting you save more than once now.

Picked this up yesterday. I've been enjoying it. It plays just like the first one. Not sure how to turn scratch cards into combo cards as well. Aside from the bucket drill and the spiked bat, I haven't been too successful in using the ad-hoc weapon customization stuff either.
It's weird that they would give you the combo card hints after you've "accidentally" made a weapon. You'd think they would hide some of those cards throughout the level as incentive for exploration and as a nice bonus telling you what kind of effective weapons can be made. It's up to you then to scrounge up the items and put them together if you want increased PP on kills. Anything outside of what they define in those combo cards would be the scratch stuff that you randomly piece together.
Chuck also seems rather slow and plodding. Is there a run/sprint button? All in all, it's gotten me pretty excited for the sequel. Zombie killing never ceases to be fun.

No run button unfortunately. I found out that scratch cards upgrade when you level. It seems to be random which one, if any. I've created about 5 things so far and haven't found all of the possible combos.

Yeah spray paint and the traffic cones make a weapon. I found chainsaws in a hardware store next to the bowling alley, but I can't find the paddle.

Ok i have the nails and the bat...how do i combine them?
As for dying to learn, I never had that problem in the original. I played through the original in one swoop without starting over with very little trouble.
I suspect that like the original once you find the right weapon combos, you'll be golden.

Place bat (or nails) on workbench. Select bat (or nails) from inventory. Combine.

Played a little bit yesterday. It is definitely more of the same, which is good in my book. I half hoped that the time limit would be gone this time so I could just explore a lot, but I am not really against it.
I do find the slowness of Chuck to be odd though. Last time you could explain it with the story of Frank (it was Frank, right?) being a photographer. But Chuck is some sort of motocross rider, and he can't run?
I also felt the introduction of the queen bee to be quite odd. It was like Chuck already new what it would do. I figure it might just be to keep the storyline short.
