Zombies, Zombies and more zombies.     At least it's a bright tropical place this time around.  In a way it could almost be Dead Rising 3.

(and yes, it's a ps3 preview but it's coming to the pc too)

Except that unlike Dead Rising, this game seems to take itself pretty seriously, going for a grim and gritty tone instead of the happy and over-the-top violence in DR. It's also supposed to have RPG mechanics in it, which sounds interesting.

Wow, I highly recommend watching that trailer.  It's possibly the best game trailer I've ever seen, and I'm not being sarcastic for once.  They use a very "Lost" style, with slo-motion and backwards/forwards story-telling, plus some great visual effects and music that also seems straight out of Lost.  Very very well done, gripping and downright chilling.  Pretty cool what artistic people can do with just a couple minutes.

If the game is this high quality, I'll probably get it even though I'll be too scared to play it lol.

like I said, almost.  Dead Rising does have levels and abilities you can unlock, so it does have light RPG elements.  Plus they say anything you find can be made into a weapon, and items have durability, which also reminded me of DR.

Yeah, I am severely burned out on zombies and zombie games in general but that trailer was pretty awesome.

There are firearms, but they are rare and have limited ammo. The concept is to make available the things that would logically be found in a tropical holiday location like the one you see in the trailer.

Best trailer I've ever seen for a game, ever.  Hands down.  Loved it.  You could make an average movie a blockbuster if you showed a trailer like that in the theater.

Btw - the trailer, while I find the subject matter disturbing, is simply brilliantly done...

I think the trailer hit me as hard as it did because of my two year old son. I know that's why it worked me over so much. I also know that the emotional connection to Katie in Dead Rising 2 is what kept it grounded. It didn't matter how nonsensical and silly the game was. Your task was to save your little girl's life in spite of all of the insanity and that automatically made it, for me, light years better than part one.

I have no opinion on Dead Island the game other than it sounds like it could get really repetitive very quickly. But the trailer is awesome and for that the house that did it should be commended.

Wow.  Not much more I can add, but that was an incredible trailer, one of the best I've ever seen for a game.  I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it, but clearly some do.  Oh well.

eh, might as well do all three.  lynch him first, let him swing in the wind screaming for brains! and then take turns hucking CD's at his head until you finally sever the neck.  then using steel-toe boots, play a nice game of kickball and round it out with a curb stomping.

it's the only way to be sure.

I loaned a friend Left 4 Dead way back when.  He took it home, put in the XBox and started the No Mercy level.

The next day he gave it back to me.  "How far did you get?" I asked him.

He said, "I was on the rooftop and after the helicopter went buy I grabbed a gun and opened the door. There was a zombie at the bottom of the stairs and he looked at me.  I ejected the game and brought it back."

Pansy never even fired a shot.   icon_frown

Hmmm based on this preview it sounds kind of disappointing.  Doesn't seem to have any of the tone or depth that the preview had.  On the bright side, I might be able to play more of it if it is more like an action/RPG game.

yeah, it's sounding more like Dead Rising 3.  I love this quote:

You can create an incredible trailer that draws attention to your game (DC Universe comes to mind), but that trailer could very well end up being more entertaining than the actual game (DC Universe comes to mind).
