I honestly can not believe how terrible this game/mod is.  It's a miracle they found an audience with all of the unintuitive and just plain broken shit going on.

It needs quite a bit of work, no doubt, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it terrible.  it's an alpha, and maybe games at the alpha level should not be released to the public, but keep in mind, the creator of the mod had no idea that this mod's popularity would explode like it did.  The DayZ wiki also takes alot of the guess work out of it, as well as a little knowledge from the base ARMA 2 game helps.

That being said, I could really use a teammate to administer a blood pack to me.  I have some awesome gear and would hate to lose it, at least for a while longer.  The Ghillie suit's my favorite, but I looted a crashed military helicopter and have 2 FN FAL rifles to toy with now, and a Glock 17.  Night Vision makes sneaking around at night a piece of cake.

Edit:  If someone could administer the blood kit I'm carrying, they are welcome to one of my rifles.  Forgot to state that initially.

Frost, I have a group that plays fairly regular. We are east coasters, usually playing 830/9pm... You're welcome to join up. Add me on steam if you'd like, Nonnahob.

anyone still playing this?  I've really been enjoying it, and have started getting into a role as a medic.  I like rolling up on someone who is in bad shape, and bandaging them up or giving them a transfusion.

The bandit/"player vs. player" is really what makes this game tense, as the zombies don't pose much threat once you figure out how they attack and that they can't run fast indoors.

If anyone is interested in teaming up, let me know.

Or am I the only one left playing this?

I can't believe there was not more excitement here about it.  I was giddy as a schoolgirl when i saw it available on Steam today.

Heh - It was scheduled to be done last christmas for crying out loud, and now they will enter beta state in about a year? Its hard to be excited about something like that.

Good point.  Remember when Dean Hall was telling the media "It will be done before 2013.  It must".  I think that was because WarZ was coming out, and he felt pressure to try to beat them.  Then, WarZ was awful, and all of a sudden Hall seemed to stop worrying about getting DayZ out so soon.

I played a bit of this standalone version at this year's E3 and was kind of shocked to see it was just as janky and unintuitive as ever.  I really don't expect much from it, especially the way they are trying to bring down expectations for this early release alpha.

I bought it, mainly because i can buy it now, or eventually buy it later, and I enjoyed the hell out of the original mod.

You're on the money when you refer to it as janky.  Still unintuitive as well.  took me a day to almost accidentally learn that you can rip your own shirt into rags to stop bleeding.  cool, but no guide to help at all.  I found the mod to be more intuitive at the end than this is, but I also see the potential and believe that many kinks will be ironed out.  Unless you're a diehard (or believe the price will go up when it's finished or even beta), I'd hold off.
