I don't know if I'll be able to play. I'd like to but my brother (Captain Caveman) and I share one X-Box Live connection. As far as I know, there's no way for me to have a seperate user-name and I don't know if one user can sign up for two teams (otherwise, I would just play under my brother's name). Does anyone know of a way to fix that? I suppose I could try to find a free two month subscription to Live....

Yeah, but another part of me doesn't want to be paying for another X-Box Live subscription. We don't need two in one house. If there's anything the PS2 online stuff did better, it was only more than one user to be reigstered on the same account. Oh well. Maybe it's best if I'm not in the league. I'll just have to live vicariously through my brother....

Keep in mind that owners who drop out CANNOT be replaced and everyone who plays them the rest of the way get byes with no stats.  So PLEASE do not join if you will not follow through.  I know this has been said before but...

Are leagues a certain number of players like tournaments are?  I notice we have 24 players, is there the ability to have a 24 player league?  Just wondering.  I personally haven't looked too much into this stuff as of yet with the crap that came up a couple weeks ago.

Update: Nevermind, it looks like 24 is a valid number (as is 20 and 28 as well as others).

alright, there's some things to discuss here before i start this....

1. how long of a season?

2. how many days between games?

3. trades?

4.  quarter length?

At this point I'm thinking I'm going to have to bow out of this, but probably not the tournament.  Tonight was the first time I've gotten any real good amount of time with ESPN NFL 2K5 (long story short, I had a personal tragedy almost 2 weeks ago and haven't played much in the way of games since) and I find the games rather long and tedious, even at 5 min. quarters.

I like the game a lot, although there are still some major problems with it that hit me hard, but I won't get into those at this time.

I'm still interested in the tournament whenever that starts because it won't be as many games or as many schedules that have to align in order to play.  So, people can pile on for the Vikings in this league before it starts.

Sorry to drop this, but if things had happened differently I'd probably be more up to this than I am at this current time.

10 weeks sounds like a nice number.

4-5 days between games.  We don't need 7 days between games.  That'll kind of drag on after awhile and interest in things *always* goes away if something is drug out a long period of time.  4 or 5 days gives an oppertunity to have people play in case they'll be gone for the weekend or something like that, while keeping the season exciting and not boring.

Trades: yes!

I guess 5 minute quarters.  The games seem short to me though, AgtFox.  Perhaps you have a lot of incompletes that turn the game into 7 second intervals?  I don't know - but it always seems to breeze by for me.  But 5 is okay.

And I agree with 8 playoff teams and random weather on.

I posted this on the other league thread.  But incase anyone missed it there was some big news from VC today...

Here is a snippet from the official forums today by someone from VC. It looks like they are going to address some of the League and Tourny problems after all.



"For starters, there were a few changes made during the maintenance this morning. Nothing ground breaking, but if you are experiencing new problems since this morning please let me know here and I'll pass it along. Of course, if the online experience is better we would love to hear that too. Regardless, we are still working to improve things.

I do have some good news. Our league web admin has been working hard on a web-based solution to the "What do you mean I can't replace deadbeat owners?" problem. It is in test right now and if all goes well we will activate the feature on the league web site on Monday (8/9). "


Good News indeed. If they allow deadbeat owners to be replaced, and allow commishes to reset games in case of a disconnect then the online leagues/tournaments will be very viable. Does anyone think this anouncement coming today has anything to do with EA's announcement for online leagues yesterday?

I know this is a bad time to bring this up, but maybe we should wait for the first roster update on 9/7 to start the league.  That way the teams will be more accurate and the league sites will be optimized (trading etc).  In the meantime we could have a Big tournament to keep us occupied.  We may be able to get a 16 or 32 team tourney going.  The 8 man tourney is down to the final 2.  The championship should be played Thursday night. I can set it up if you guys want.

It is totally frustrating, and I don't understand why it happens.

I don't seem to have the problem with any other game, except for the occasional disconnect in PGR2.

If no one makes a move, I'm considering pushing this out the door myself with 6 minute quarters, a little more time than the norm to keep from grinding the clock too easy and to still keep it quick.
