Previews ruining your dinner?

Over on penny-arcade, Tycho mentioned how previews give too much away.
I tend to agree with him
I want to play Transformers. I'm a casual fan of transformers, but the game looks cool. I've seen several previews of the game on X-Play and Electric Playgrounds. Every single one of them has to show the battle with Tidal Wave. (He's the decepticon that turns into an aircraft carrier. This means he's absolutely massive) Showing this off... in a preview / review... gives faaaar too much away for my tastes.
I tend to avoid previews like the plague, preferring to just rent everything that looks good by the box and word of mouth.

He is absolutely right. I do my best not to put spoilers in my previews, but I know that other sites aren't so careful about that sort of thing.

Its the same way with movies. They give enough that you can put the pieces together and know whats going to happen 90% of the time. I HATE THAT.

I avoid game previews like the plague...hate having something that happens ten hours into it told to me before I ever get the game. I love movie previews though...except the ones that show scenes from the ending...I mean come on.

I tend to avoid MOVIE previews and the like, but I don't mind game previews. Due to the huge lead time between screenshots and release I don't get too worried until the release is imminent. I tend to forget what I've seen, plus they all blend together after awhile.
I try to read reviews or catch my fellow CG'rs reccomendations when I am looking at making a purchase. I don't want to go in blind when I'm dropping $50. With my backlog things are usually a lot cheaper and I am reasonably confident as to the quality of a title.
