It just seems to me that with the annoucement of the new consoles the current consoles are in a large duldrums.  Nothing really coming out, at least nothing really noteworthy.  HAve they just abandoned us to concentrate on the PS3 and the 360, along with the PSP and the DS?  PC games themselves seem to be in the same situation.  Maybe its just a summer thing?  Take a break kinda thing?  <shrug>  Or maybe its just me, and its not really that bad.

Depends on the system. Xbox is pretty much dead- the only notable exclusive I can think of still to come is Half Life 2 which most of us have already played.

Cube is pretty much dead too- with Zelda delayed until next year there isn't much left though I'm pretty ecstatic over Fire Emblem GC.

PS2, on the other hand, is still going strong with tons of stuff I'm very interested in not only this holiday season but through next summer.  So much so that I had been contemplating holding off on a 360 for a while since my cup already runneth over between my backlog and what's still to come.  However the 360 offers too much of a convenient Christmas present to me for my friends and family so it's been preordered.  Plus, my Thompson drive is failing so I'm just going to trade in my Xbox for credit toward the 360.

I am looking forward to a lot of PS2 games, and a few Cube ones as well.

For the Cube I am interested in:

Battlion Wars (not getting any love at all from anyone)
Fire Emblem
Super Mario Strikers( spiritual sequel to Sega Soccer Slam!!!)
Gun( I could get this for PS2, but I am willing to bet that loading is better)
King Kong( also on PS2, but I have Cube component cables)
Mega Man X collection
Spartan Total Warrior

I know they're not all "exclusives" I just know I'll just get them on the Cube. So I don't think it's dead dead yet. Just really par for the course with the Cube and how it's releases have been.

I can also think of about 10 to 15 PS2 games coming that would be good to get.

So, I don't think that the systems are dead, not yet atleast.

My MOST anticipated game for the rest of the year is on the PS2, Shadow of the Colossus, and then there is Battalion Wars for the Cube.  I think it will be one of the biggest sleeper hits of the year.  Hands down.  Can't wait for it.  Go check out the vids and whatnot at Gamespot and you will see that there is alot to love about that little gem.

I agree, however, for the Xbox.  Not much to get to excited about.

My list:

PS2: Dragon Warrior, Shining Force NEO(?), Suikoden Tactics, Capcom Classics

NGC: Fire Emblem, Batallion Wars, SSX4, Super Mario Strikers, Odama

XBX: Nothing comes to mind.

That is upto the end of the year.

the only game that I was really really excited about was zelda.

A few of the games coming out this year seem cool, but nothing has really caught my interest in terms of following the previews/release dates/etc.

I'll probably see what people say about Battlion Wars, X-men 2, Spiderman, Spartan Total Warrior and try them out as a rental.

there are a few games I am looking forward too.  Allo PS2 titles.  Kingdome Hearts II. and Fatal Frame III, to name the two I can think of off-hand.

The exclusives are bare, that is true.

However, crossplatform gaming is still better on the box.

Rainbow Six Lockdown, Dynasty Warriors 5, Spiderman Ultimate and Burnout Revenge all have me wondering if anyone can recommend a Gamefly-like service in Canada.

Thing is, since my xbox is going to the ex and henceforth it will be known as the ex-box, I'm getting a x360. (  ooo, double entendre!) Since I've made that commitment, I'm not shellin' out money for xbox games that devalue faster than I can beat them.

Burnout Revenge is now paid off (trade 3 at EB), and it's the x360 version too. smile Traded in Ninja Gaiden, Burnout 3 (lost save games due to warranty repair) and Dynasty Warriors 4.

I'm not buying DW5 either, they've got a special edition coming for the x360.

Update: here's a list of games I'd like to at least rent for the Xbox assuming they all come out this year... well, there's one in there I wouldn't touch.. I bet you could figure it out though slywink The order is based on release date from EBGames.com (hence all the 'with Bonus!' statements).

Rainbow Six: Lockdown with Bonus!
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks with Bonus!
Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes with Bonus!
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse with Bonus!
Ultimate Spider-Man with Bonus!
Far Cry Instincts with Bonus!
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects with Bonus!
HALF LIFE 2 XB
Brothers In Arms: Earned In Blood
Call of Cthulhu
Serious Sam II with Bonus!
Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge
The Warriors
Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
SSX ON TOUR XB
Battlefield Modern Combat
Bully
25 To Life with Bonus!
Spartan: Total Warrior
Star Wars Battlefront II
Sea World: Shamu's Big Adventure
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
James Bond From Russia With Love XB
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Sims 2
Painkiller
America's Army: Rise of a Soldier
Gun with Bonus!
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness XB
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows <<-- thought this was cancelled
True Crime New York City
AEON FLUX XB
SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG XB
Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure with Bonus!
Peter Jackson's King Kong
Prince of Persia 3

xbox never had many great exclusives. but what about:

stubbs the zombie? that's running the halo engine (modified) and looks both fun and inspired!

what about king kong? playing as a giant ape and fighting dinosaurs sound boring to you? no way!

i can't wait to play as a zombie that kills a crowd of warm blooded people with a stinky zombie fart bomb!

Out of that list by Zarkon, I am interested in:

Burnout Revenge

X-Men Legends 2

Ultimate Spider-Man

Blitz: The League (will wait for reviews)

SSX On Tour (ditto, no online is a bad thing)

Dragon Quest 8

Kingdom Hearts 2 (if it comes out before the end of the year)

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (only if it is like the old NFS games and I'd get the 360 version since it will be out around the same time)

Soul Calibur 3 (only if it brings something new to the table other than characters)

And Purge, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows was never cancelled, just that the two "leaders" of the project left (or were ejected).

I'm right there with you.  I have a 360 preordered but it won't take much convincing for me to cancel it.  I'm going to be very interested in early reviews of the launch titles.  If there is an abundance of five hour gameplay times or spotty framerates I'll drop it without blinking.  Way too much other stuff to play.
