Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski has resigned from the Gears of War studio some two decades since joining.

In a prepared statement, Epic Games said Bleszinski had departed to "chart the next stage in his career". No further explanation was given.

It has not yet been revealed what the Gears of War principal designer will turn to next.

maybe they can all form a studio.  Let Pete design, Cliffy B be the face guy, then Greg and Ray could sell the company to EA.

man, that's cold.

and sadly accurate.

I anticipate a cover based shooter with big 'roided up dudes wearing 500 lbs of armor while leaving their heads exposed who get the chance to build their own cover using Kinect and a little AI helper who's emotions bring tears to your eyes.

SWTOR's lead designer also left Bioware. Although since that particular guy is hawking his resume on Twitter, it doesn't necessarily sound like he left of his own desire to brew beer, save the world through entrepreneurship or just do Cliffy B-like things.
