Cleaning XBox Hard Drive and Live Account?

I'm going to give away my XBox or sell it, and I have no idea how to clean off the hard drive, or get the XBox Live account off it, so someone doesn't use it.  Anyone have a clue?  

Drop kicking it doesn't count, and would probably break my foot .

Well, on the 360, there is a way to wipe the 360 clean. One of the options in the system blade or something.

As for the standard Xbox...I suggest you give it to Darren8r.

Why am I dumping the XBox?  Because I have the 360 now, so I have no interest in playing XBox games anymore.  I don't want to hook up the XBox to play anything either, because then I get annoyed more games aren't enabled via the 360's backwards compatibility.

I think I'll probably try to sell the XBox and the 7 or 8 older games I have for it on eBay, see if I can get something decent for it to finance some newer games .

The only way I know to get rid of things on the xbox is to boot without a disk in the drive, select the memory option, select the hard drive, then scroll through everything and delete what you want.  Takes a while if you've played a lot of games.

Yeah. go into the memory storage on the xbox dashboard and select the hard drive. from there, just delete everything (hit A with the game heading selected).

The other option is to call microsoft and complain about a faulty DVD drive.

For some reason, this constitutes them wiping the hard disk.  :evil:

Thanks guys.  I didn't realize you could delete the XBox Live account from the hard drive menu.  That seemed to do it.  Now its time to pass on big heavy black box on.[/quote]

yeah sorry i thought you meant the 360..lol.....i gave one of my old xbox s to my sister,the chipped one with over 200 games..........i use my other xbox to play DVDs as the 360 isnt very good(mine anyway)at playing them...hopefully this upcoming update will fix it
