Hope there's an early review like there was with AoE3. Things are just crazy in RTS land again this year.

Hope there's an early review like there was with AoE3. Things are just crazy in RTS land again this year. Huh? You lost me Foxy. Regarding the (gold) news of CivIV - according to the overwhelmingly positive things I've read in numerous previews, this game ranks up there as one of my 4 most awaited games that have been announced. (along with the next RoN, GalCiv 2, and the new Total Annihilation). And to think, I haven't even loaded the expansion to Rome:Total War yet. I better get movin! Great news... thanks Ron! LD

Oh I was just commenting on the fact that the two "kings" of RTS games (sales and history wise) are coming out within a week of each other...Empires and Civilization. Add to this the fact that so many other worthy games are coming out and it's just crazy like it is every year around this time. I'd just like an advanced review so I can see whether Civ 4 is worth it.

Well based on what some people are saying about the game not being ready and being rushed out the door-I will definately be waiting for reviews on this one.

Well, don't worry Calvin, this will be a day one purchase for me, so I'll be sure to post detailed impressions as early as I can, so get your questions ready!

Day one purchase for me as well. You won't have to wait long for the reviews though. According to a 2kgames representive, the IGN review will be posted on Friday and the rest of the sites are allowed to post theirs on Monday.

To be honest the screams of it not being ready are simply because people feel the bump from November to October was:
1. A fiscal move to not get into November 2. Not enough time given to even out stuff
I personally think it's hogwash and they were just faster than expectations.

Pre-ordering for the spiral bound manual! I would have pre-ordered this one anyway, but a nicer manual is my favorite type of pre-order/CE swag.

I'm in the camp that this was most likely rushed out the door. However, It's one thing for Dungeon Lords to be pushed out early, quite another for Civ 4. (I HIGHLY doubt Firaxis will let it's 'Money in the Bank' produt be crap.) Whatever Bugs are in Civ 4 will almost certainly be patched over time. Now, my question is if that point will be by the time a price drop occurs.

They need to do a better job of making the civvilization improvements powerful and long lasting for thier sides...
Like While having a mildly better horse unit is nice, it pales in comparison to the borkenness known as the Panzer tank.
mebbe civ 4 will make them all cool.
