I remeber there was a nice thread on Civ 4 in the E3 forum, but since that is gone . . . .

Anyway, did anyone read the new PC Gamer yet?  They did a cover story on Civ 4 for the new issue.  Some new details were revealed.  A couple of things caught my eye.

1) All the talk about new 3D graphics engine, being able to zoom in and out, etc., is great.  Yet, they are still using square's as the basic geographical shape, leading to long straight lines and unnatural looking coastlines.

2) Despite all the talk about reducing complexity for the player, they decided to add to the terrain improvement options.  Instead of just clearing land or irrigating we now have the option of converting to corn fields or adding windmills?  That seems way to micro-managment to me.

3) The addition of RTS interface ideas like drag and click to select groups of units or double clicking to select all units of a certain type.  I fail to comprehend how this would work in a turn-based game or why you would want it.
