Glad the demo came out as this WAS a 1st day buy for me when I first heard of it.  Now, rent at best.  Just did nada for moi.  I actually liked Wanted more believe it or not.  I'm down to, from games I have heard of, only getting RE5, God of War 3, and Heavy Rain this who year.  But time will tell cuz no doubt there will be some I know nothing of coming down the pike.

I played through the demo and while it was fun it didn't live up to my memory of playing the original.  I agree that the graphics aren't nearly as stunning as they were back then.  Specifically Riddick's character model shows significant polygon edges when viewed up close.  I also thought that the effect when in stealth was better in the original game, but maybe that's because I played the PC version.

I was left with pretty much the same impressions.  I was "IN!" when I first heard of the game, but it just didn't have the same "wow factor" as the original when it was first released.  I'd rather play an entirely new game rather than revisit the old one in new packaging.  I liked it at the time, but having played a number of more modern FPS games on the 360 this one seems to fall short.  It feels a bit outdated.

Yeah, I think if I wanted to re-play Riddick - I would do just that.  I thoroughly enjoyed it when I played it, but there aren't very many games I replay, so I'm afraid I'm OUT!

IGN's review is up.  7.4, but there complaints are in line with my fears.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a difficult game to judge. The first half of the game, Escape from Butcher Bay, certainly shows its age, but is still an innovative game. The sequel, however, comes off as a poor imitation. It's far more frustrating and seems more shooter than anything else. It's not a terrible game for a sequel, but it's inferior to Butcher Bay. If you played the original back in 2004, then there's little reason to pick this game up. However, if you never played Riddick's first adventure it (and its modest follow-up) are worth checking out.

I think I'll wait for the PC version to hit the bargain bin.

I never made it more than a few hours into the original game so I'll probably give this one a spin.

That seems to be the outlier at the moment (though not significantly so)... the rest of the scores are in the 80-90 range

The numbers are different, although the content seems pretty identical - Butcher Bay is great, Dark Athena is meh, and Pitch Black is the only multiplayer mode worth spending time on.

It's been quiet on this game for a couple of weeks. Any further impressions?

Once everyone realized the new content was lame, everyone stopped caring. If your interested because you want the old content with updated graphics, buy the game. If you were interested in the new content, don't buy the game.
