Yup yup. Nothing like rounding the corner and some trigger happy teammate plastering your Hound with a smattering of all kinds of firepower. This is one reason I'm usually armored on all sides. biggrin

I wonder what would happen if you designed your hound with armor plate in front of a weapon... kind of like this:

(      <===
CCCCCCC

Where ( is the armor, <=== is the weapon and CCCCCC is the rest of your hound.

The garage system will not allow you to do that if it blocks the line of fire for the weapon.

The neat part is that the armor actually has to cover the actual weapon exit point. I have one Hound design where if I rotated the cannons I have installed, they'd be blocked by the armor. The plates are that close to the guns.

Thanks to the designs of the AI though, armor protecting your weapons aren't that important unless you're constantly getting hit on your sides. Odds are your cockpit is the first (and only) thing they target, unless they're using artillery based weapons. Then you'll just get blown up equally instead of losing your cockpit only.

And the Morkoj super weapon of doom has been revealed - here's the sequence you see when you meet it in battle:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp0PvTxydj4

Reports state that you can encounter it right this moment at East Salma Woods.

Update: Reports state that it has already been killed. Sheesh.

Ummm... it's a big gun.... unless it wipes out everything in a very large area of the map I can see it being wiped out rather easily by a squad with alot of howitzers....

Rewatching the video I see the smaller guns but they still don't seem like much.  I think KD has more guns on his hound than that thing does slywink  When you say superweapon in a mech game, I think more along the lines of Unicron  Cool

ROFL

Random thought based on that - you can only fire 8 (I think) guns at once for whatever reason. That's still a lot of firepower though any way you look at it.

And besides - when your main cannon has a shell that's twice as long as a man is tall (and 3 times as thick), do you really need anything else? biggrin

EDIT: And to prevent from me posting right after myself (again), I'll just edit this post.

I just 'discovered' the power of the Heavy Gunner after being shot down from afar one too many times. So after visiting the official boards for a bit, I found out the 'uber' Heavy Gunner - the one that can fire 2 dual guns without much in the way of 'jiggling', as the game puts it.

Go visit your garage and throw this together (built from the legs up):

1xRJ-Jamal (Sal) (or the M01RJ Burns (Tar) if you don't have it)
1xM01CK Forrest (Tar)
2xMSK-HC1501/D (Download part - on the sides of the cockpit)
1xG-Kala (Sal)
1xArmor facing forward on the G-Kala for minor protection

Now in the cockpit:
1xMC-Wahid (or any 2 Socket speed chip)
1xMSK-TC1000 (or any 2 socket aim chip)
1xM02RC Backus (or your best 5 slot stability chip)

You're just within the energy and weight limits, and you have 150ish speed. And you can fire both double cannons without your aim going all over the place. You are the ultimate monster on the battlefield, as you will scrap targets once you get within close range (or can hit targets from afar).

I personally use the Burns legs, which nets me a bit more weight at the cost of a bit of speed. Allows me to put on a fuel tank (as your Effect Time is under 15 minutes with the above settings) and a few other minor things.

The whole trick is to get your Stability as high as you can. Mine runs just under 270. That allows you to fire off both double cannons without the usual kickback.

Now go trash the AI. biggrin

From what people know (as it's yet another thing that isn't explained at all anywhere), it's the amount of fuel your Hound has before it goes empty. It's measured in minutes, so anything lower than 15 (the maximum length a map can run until it auto-ends) is a risk.

I was sitting in the lobby last night when you logged on to Live.  You just sat there at the dashboard for 15 minutes until I left (to play Dead Rising, of course).

Sal Kar was doing well, though!

Yeah, I didn't expect anyone to be on, and I just turned the 360 on while I was watching TV.  Got distracted by something or another.

You know what really sucks?  We can't switch sides until Arkon gets his 360 back!  So if Sal Kar gets stomped and we lose the capitol then we can't buy anything until it is won back or the war is finished....

Also, I think we need to do a few wars as the Morskoj, just so we can see what they may have now.

Bah bitch some more....

That aside, I am hoping to have it back in a week.  I can switch us if need be once I get it back.  Not like I am happy about this at all.  That said, I was getting a bit burned out by the game so this break should renew my vim and vigor in the game.

I tried building this with the Jamal, and I was about a buck 50 over weight. Using the Burns legs works nicely however thumbsup

On second thought, I think it was the Raja legs. I'd have to fire up the game and look.

And personally, I'm using another set of legs (won it on the lottery recently) that while slows me down to 120 speed, it allows me to put on a front shield and gives me even more stability. Makes me even more death dealing.  icon_biggrin

And if you want to know the exact stats before you buy it, visit here and poke around. Just from forum descriptions, the Assault Rifle is a 3 shot, 1.5 second reload, 1.5k damage (over 3 shots), 90 total shot weapon. The Heat weapon is very light weight, and in a hex frame, and the Machine Gun does insane amounts of damage (in the range of 7k) over .4 seconds. Only 10 pulls of the trigger though and it's very easily broken apart.

I'll take a closer look at what's out there and decide what to get later.

And as far as the exact part names (to use on my last post, here you go (at least based on what I can figure out):

Assault Rifle - M34AR Hanger
Machine Gun - Mcg-Hajal
Cannon - M27CN Flanberg
HEAT Missile - HTR-Tamatim
Missile - MSK-MS1001 (I think - not sure)
