I think it'd be nice to get a look at what Sal Kar has available in the shop. I feel kind of limited in my weapon choices, especially in the heavy weapon group, where I have only 3 choices.

I've seen some people talking about tread based hounds with 200 spd or more. I like the sound of that. As soon as I get my biped specialist achievement I think I'll experiment with the treads for a while.

From what I can tell, we should be able to jump to Sal Kar now, and when the russians eventually take over Sal Kar we can go back to Tarakia.

Hopefully once we start getting more people in the other two 'affiliated' squads (OO and the Wanderers), we can get some good matches going. I know the OO squad fought the Wanderers at least once last night, and we should have 8 or 9 members soon, so we can actually field a full squad of 6.

Wow, when I logged off at 10PM EST we had control of almost 50% of the map, what the heck happened that we now are completely wiped out. The Morskoj are way overpowered it would seem.
Anyone have thoughts on what we should do. I should have the ability to go into Political Assylum and we could jump ship to Sal Kar to try and fight back the Russians, as well as get some Sal Kar items, or we can work on trying to rebuild Tarakia... thoughts anyone? What happened? The Morskoj took the city north of our capital, and then bum rushed our homeland. Nobody else on our side realized this and instead of defending, they continued their attack. Once the capital falls, everything we had went poof. The Morskoj have numbers (and more damaging weapons). That's all they need. As for what to do - I definitely want to join the Sal Kar in the third round. I want their weapons and armor. Not sure what we should do until then though. Turtle and Jarrodhk have some very good points. Also, I want to add this in - listen to your commander. He can see the battlefield, and as thus, direct your actions far better than you think you can yourself. I've found that out the hard way more than once. And placing weapons all at one range is entertaining, but limits you to that one range. I have a Hound that currently has 4 Cannons installed, all with chemical rounds. I do insane damage (as chemical damage isn't reduced due to range or most armor), so when I hit, I hit hard. I just can't spend much time in close range.

Go Sal Kar. I'm starting to detest the Russian faction. I think Sega needs to think about rebalancing some of the weapons. Shame, once all the US players logged to get sleep the Russians players just ran roughshod over the maps

I think loading all weapons for one range on a hound is fine, so long as you have someone else in the squad covering other ranges. You'll also need a commander to make sure that you won't be ambushed by enemy hounds.
I think the best way is to focus on one range band, but have a backup for a second as a way to constantly deal damage to the enemy.

As I am still learning, have I been doing ok with the TC role? I could use some feedback if there are ways I can improve. I would also like to develop a soldier and heavy gunner and sometimes switch off to a different role to be able to get more into the action. As long as russia hasn't destroyed Sal Kar by the time I get home tonight, and if Tarakia still is destroyed I will most likely take us into assylum with Sal Kar.

Just to add that we need to pay more attention to where the fighting is going on. We need to fight were it is more logical to fight. St. Yves should have been our focus for most fo the night

When we get too many for a 6 person, I rush to try to get into the smaller group you make. Take that as a compliment.

(posted this over on OO as well, before i realize it was more relevent here  )
okay, i'm ready for some online. i had my first Free Battle last night with some pretty decent folks and got my butt handed to me. had a two legged mech with a light frame bearing 3 machineguns and an assault rifle. pretty basic, but with the 3 machineguns in the same weapons group, i could dole out some serious hit and run damage if i could circle and strafe without taking any backlash...
...so what do i do in my first online game? i get myself friggin' stuck in the middle of an urban map where i can't run, can't evade, and basically get my hind end blasted to kingdom come.
back to the drawing board.
when's GT Goonsquad playing next? i'd love to get some MP going now that i feel comfortable with the game.
p.s. since i frequent OO more than GT, would it be more polite of me to join their groups when we get too many players in this type of scenario? i feel kind of bad for anyone from GT who wants to join up if i'm taking their spot. i'm fine with either group, i just don't wanna be rude. let me know what you guys think.

i just responded on OO. i think i'll go ahead and free up a spot for more frequent GT posters. i feel kind of funny being a mostly OO poster and making someone who spends most of their BB time on GT wait in line behind me.
hopefully, they'll eventually find some way to combine squads (like alliances in guild wars).

Tarakia got destroyed again? That sucks. I was going to log in last night but we had a power outage so I got some beer and sat outside until I felt like sleeping. From the time on my flashing alarm clock I'm guessing the power didn't come back on until 4am or so. I'm going to try and log on tonight (power permitting )

We need people to start taking Commander and Scout Hounds. I like my Soldiers Hounds and I broke down and made a Commander and Scout.
Imo, everyone needs to try doing it so not just one person is stuck with the Commander or Scout role.

do commanders maintain any defensive capabilities traditionally (and i know, using the word "traditionally" in a game that's only been out a week is a bit of a misnomer )? i'll experiment with some scouts after work in the single player portion in order to get some components for a decent build.

I have 3 commander builds. My first is equipped with 4 sniper cannons, on a quad base. Can dish very good damage, but very slow. I have another one that goes with 2 sniper cannons and 2 light howitzers. My last that i am experimenting with is on wheels and has a mix of machine guns and assault rifles. Being a commander does not make you defenseless I would appreciate having a few other possible commanders in the squad so I can take a break and get more into the action now and again.

I've been focusing more on mobility and defense (armor plating) for my commander since if I fall the enemy gains a significant advantage. I'd rather be under armed and live long enough for someone to get to me and me get away.
I tend to be lightly armed, on wheels or treads and have smoke for defense as well.

Arkon, you are a great commander! You know your way around the battlefield and how to quickly get us all into an effective position. You actually seem comfortable in the role, while it seems we are slapping command spires on our regular battle mechs to compensate for your loss when you are gone. Plus you are a great leader. We need you!
As for a scout need, I'll look into building one. I'll be one tonight.

Arkon, you've been doing a great job as commander.
I don't mind going back to a scout role (though I think with a wheeled base next time), now that I have a better feel for everything.
But damn is it fun to unleash the fury of heavy weapons. Heavy rockets..rock. The main tank gun (the Bastard) didn't have as much range as I would have liked, but did a pretty decent job once in range. I found it confusing that my shells would explode upon impact and I couldn't tell if it was the shell or the hound exploding unless I saw the hound moving afterward.

Ok, Sal Kar is standing, and we are currently allied with them. I suggest jumping in and getting equipment asap if you can, thier PILE is very much on par with the russians and they have some other very nice pieces. I blew about 1.5mil getting everything I wanted.

I still haven't messed with the commander side of things yet. I'll probably do so some time this week.
I tried the wheel base this morning. My verdict? I'll never touch one again, even if there is an achievement for using it.
Got the nation revival medal before going to bed this morning. Bought a few things and then crashed. I'll be on around 7pm cent tonight. Probably until midnight or so.
I am NOT addicted to this game!

home now, but i ain't starting up my 360 until the friggin' ac brings the room down to nearly tolerable levels. i'm afraid how hot the damn thing would get in this heat.
EDIT: christ, what fun. i just spent 3 hours figuring out how to wire my apartment since the electrical system they have here sucks horribly. chicago has the worst electricians in the world, i gotta tell ya. turn on my air conditioner and boom, i lose everything. had to shift everything around to take advantage of different circuits. i'm even afraid to turn on my 360 now thanks to the heatwave making my ac an electrical super sucker.
....sorry, had to vent. :x

OK, I just bought the game today and was wondering if the squad is full. If so no worries! Again, if so, what are the chances of maybe starting a second GT squad?

Built a very fast scout/sniper build. The Sal Kar have some LIGHT parts. Love the super-thin radiators. So my first order of business was floating straight into a fray with two heavy mechs. The only thing not on fire was the gun mounted on top. Hover bases definately take some getting used to.
Sal Kar fell earlier. Tarakia somehow gained back their capital and promptly lost it.
Are we leaning towards staying with Sal Kar this round?

Aye the OO squad has room, or if you want you could start the GT Brutesquad, or the GT Goonies etc.... Oh and I am leaning towards staying Sal Kar for the next round of the war.
