TeamXbox posted a really good interview with the developers of Chromehounds.  A few interesting quotes...

Quote
Once you satisfy certain conditions, you will acquire achievements called Medals. Medals can then be turned into Emblems and applied to your Hound.

So it looks like not only will we get the points, but now we can display our achievements on our hounds!!!

Quote
Chromehounds supports maximum 6 on 6, total 12 online players simultaneously. For the online multiplayer mode, Neroimus is the main war map. Players will be able to join one of the three nations and fight against the players who belong to the two. If you win a battle, you get a reward and your nation’s influence will expand at the same time. Players can form a squad of up to 20 Hounds and send six Hounds at a time to accomplish certain missions. These missions can be fought against other online players or against CPU squads. In addition, Xbox Live mode supports death match, capture flag, break all and survivor missions. The final goal is to destroy the two other nations and gain total domination in the land of Neroiumus.

The multiplayer in this game seems to be shaping up to be near incredible...a GT squad would rock.

Quote
While playing in the Neroimus war mode, the power balance is changed by the players in default. However, it is possible to fight with squads composed of NPCs. We developed an original AI system for these NPCs where it will decide their routes based on the terrain and play just as tactically as other players do.

This has me a little concerned.  Any game recently that has talked about cool new AI tends to end up with horrible AI in practice, hopefully they deliver.

Quote
There are actually 80 total maps. We’ve spent a lot of time working on these maps since this is such an online-heavy title. We really wanted to make sure that players will be able to find the perfect strategy for each battlefield, allowing for a ton of playing time. We also wanted to show that the Neroimus war is actually an international warfare, which also required there to be a lot of maps. It had to have the feel of world domination, rather than just a national conflict. The Singleplayer mode will offer the same maps as the online mode. However, there will be certain restrictions.

Hopefully this doesn't mean 10 base maps with each having 8 minor variants.  If we get 80 unique maps, man that would be incredible.

Quote
The Tactics Commanders play a very important role in carrying out tactics during a battle. Tactics Commanders mount powerful radars and can broadly see the battle field. They gather information and send commands to friendly Hounds. They can also help firiendly Hounds determine efficient field position to ultimately win the battle.

This could end up being a really cool feature, a good commander could make a huge difference for a squad.

So anyway, enough quoting from another interview.  Any chance GT Staff could score an interview or preview of this game?  This was and is one of my most anticipated 360 titles.

That is very cool!  I'm looking forward to getting up close and personal with this title at E3.  Since I saw the early video and the gameplay video we posted a little while ago, I've been sold on this title.

Wonder if the online play will support split-screen.  Moriarty and I are both avid mech fans... would be mildly sad if we had to trade off while playing... not that it would stop us I'm sure.   Tongue

Well, it's only a couple weeks until chromehounds comes out.  Since I have a lot of time stuck at a desk this summer I've been browsing around and reading up on games.

I really can't wait for chromehounds.  Sounds like a really intense MP squad experience.  Hopefully the controls/combat live up to the hype I've been hearing.

This sounds good.

So... is there co-op play other than team vs. team?

Although, team vs team sounds like alot of fun too.  Do you spend an allocated amount of points to set up your mech before the multiplayer fights, you know, to make things fair?  Or do you just pick from list of Light, Medium, Heavy mechs?

Is there customization in multiplayer?  Do you take your "unlocked" mechs from the single-player game into multiplayer?

Any news on "teams" or "squads" or whatever they are called?  Will it function like clans or something?  Will it track team/squad stats so we can take on other teams and stuff?  That would be fun.

I see lots of potential here, but obviously have lots of questions.

What's the word on split screen multiplayer?

With all the focus on Live, good split screen, or even single screen multiplayer games are falling by the wayside.

In an earlier preview I had read multiple people could play on one box.  That may only be on live, not sure.  Will try and find it.

Yeah, Kathode, what do you mean by this?  Have you played it and it sucks?  Inquiring minds want to know.

he only said a few words, but you do kinda get that impression don't you?
personally, the more video footage i see of this game, the more concerned i get that it looks like a bit of an empty experience...

The gameplay video looked a little actiony to me, and the AI, if it was AI playing, was kinda stupid.

The hounds didn't have as sense of weight either.

However, this was a video from a long while back, so things may have changed.

I just watched a new trailer for this game at TeamXBox (Trailer #4) and holy hell does it look impressive.  Hopefully it doesn't play like crap.  Unless the reviews are incredibly horrible, this should be a Day 1 purchase for me.

Well, I am seeing screenshots showing armor load outs and it looked like some kind of battle map with countries on it (not sure what all you can do on this), so I am hoping there is more than just blasting stuff.  Even if there was, as long as the game plays well, I would think that the multi should be tons of fun.

If this turns out to be a solid game, it may just be a system seller for me.  tinyogre's ominous "wait for the demo" comment on OO has me worried, though.  Just have to wait and see.

I thought kathode said that on GT. smile  Still, you are right in that the ominous warning did shake me up a bit.  Still, sometimes a demo sucks balls, but the gameplay is good, which is why I hope a couple of reviews come out the night before release.

A write up about building hounds.

I know Kathode said to wait for a demo, but most of the press about this has been very good.  I enjoyed the Armored Core games, and this is supposed to be a bit slower paced which is fine in my book.  The folks on QT3 seem to be anticipating this as well.

I absolutely loved the Armored Core series (despite the devs insistance of not supporting the dual analog sticks for like forever), so I'm hoping that this game will fill that niche in my love for mech combat titles.

Reading all the previews, it sure as heck looks like it.

You can now download a demo of 'Chromehounds' from the Xbox Live Marketplace. This free demo is available in all Xbox Live regions EXCEPT the U.S. and Canada. Yes, you read that right...this demo is not available in the U.S. or Canada.

Since when are demos available everywhere except the U.S. and Canada?  Hopefully, we get it soon.
