Since there was some chatter in the playing thread, I figured I'd just make a dedicated one for this Victor Vran game.

This was in Early Access for a while and just released officially this last week.

From what I understand this is supposed to be a little more action-based ARPG with lots of dodging and rolling and controller support.  It also has a similar single-character-multiple-builds paradigm as Van Helsing from what I gather.  Except you're Victor Vran, of course.  slywink

I still haven't had a chance to play it, and I'm in the middle of moving, so unfortunately I have no impressions yet.

Isn't this by Tropico 3-5's developer? Not from Van Helsing's?

You're right!  For some reason I was thinking this was the Van Helsing developers but I was wrong.  Oops.

The Van Helsing developers are working on an action-RPG set in the Warhammer universe.

Anyone want to do a 4 pack?  If so it would be $13.50 a person.  I will take the first 3 people to PM me with their steam name.  I will then give you my paypal info.  Please make sure I'm not charged with any fees.

Sweet!

I'm only at lvl 16, but so far this game has its hooks in me. Hopefully I can link up with Jarrodhk or Harkonis and try it out.

I picked this up last night.  Definitely has a Van Helsing vibe to it, but thus far seems much simpler in terms of character builds and interesting loot.  I'm just starting so I'm presuming it will get deeper later.

I'm playing with traditional controls (mouse + keyboard) to start out, but it feels a little awkward so I might switch to controller.

There are some design decisions I'm not sure I like, but something about the overall experience makes it feel like a fresh take on the Diablo/ARPG genre.  Oddly enough I can't really say in detail exactly what feels fresh (aside from being able to jump), but that was the impression I had as I was playing.

Played a little more last night and am still pretty happy with the game in general in terms of the feel.  Only real complaint is I prefer ranged weapons and it looks like there's only guns (no crossbows or bows?) and I haven't been able to buy or get a good gun drop.

I played this very early on in Early Access. While I had some fun, I ultimately went back to more traditional ARPGs (Grim Dawn in early access, returning to Titan Quest, etc.). I think I just prefer to keep to "click and splurch" basics, and the various ARPGs trying hard to "break" that format and be in theory more innovative, I appreciate it but haven't in the long run enjoyed them as much as more traditional ones fwiw.

I have it installed of course, so certainly I'll re-visit this at some point and see if it's more in my wheelhouse now.  icon_smile
