It seem like after the long beta and somewhat quiet cancellation of Triad Wars, United Front Games went back to the drawing board to redesign their approach at multiplayer games.

Smash + Grab seems to be a bit of Triad Wars meets APB in a match-based game.  It is some sort of competitive multiplayer game where you create a gang of 5 characters (AI controlled?) and compete against other players in largely melee combat (similar to Sleeping Dogs) to smash, loot and fight over the city or something.

Honestly the whole concept is still a little unclear to me, but they are having a beta weekend starting tomorrow, Friday the 9th, and it's supposed to go into Early Access this month, so we should know much more soon.

You can get a beta key here: https://www.playsmashandgrab.com/the-smashgrab-beta-weekend-announcement/

I'm too busy with Project Highrise to try the beta, but I'd be interested in hearing more about it.

This is pretty fun and well done overall.  I wish the powerups weren't a thing and I wish there was better feedback on when the opponent is doing what regarding the smash/grab/defend combat.

Apparently this is having a Free Weekend starting today at noon PST running through Tuesday the 18th.

I never really enjoyed that first beta, but a lot of other people seemed to so maybe it's something that just needs to click, or I just approached wrong.

Well, hopefully you got all the fun out of this one that you wanted.  Apparently it is no longer available for sale on Steam because the developer United Front Games has closed it's doors for good.   crybaby

I really wish they had just gone on to make Sleeping Dogs 2 as an immediate follow-up, instead of this and that Triad Wars free-to-play waste of time.
