Although we have to wait a few weeks to get a look at it, this very promising game was announced at GDC.  Child of Light is a downloadable 2D sidescroller with turn-based JRPG battles that uses the Rayman Origins engine to make it a "living painting".  It's also described as being inspired by Hayao Miyazaki and classic illustrations and as "Limbo meets Final Fantasy VI".  There are some more details here and a trailer is due in two weeks.

First I've heard of this, but it now has my undivided attention.

Ooh. I like the sound (and visuals) of this.

Now to wait for that trailer to see how it truly looks.

Here are some screenshots and a trailer.  Ubisoft also unveiled another game using the Rayman Origins engine - a puzzle adventure game called Valiant Hearts.  It tells the story of five interconnected people involved in World War I.

Uhm...wow  saywhat

So, it is turn-based, but with timing mechanics. Interesting.

Valiant Hearts looks great too, but there's no sense of the gameplay at all in that trailer.

I know Ubisoft has taken something of a beating in the last couple of years at the hands of gamers, but props to them for backing projects like this.

I generally don't like side scrolling platformers and avoid them like the plague. But that trailer looked flat out amazing and I will have to try the demo for sure.

That could probably use it's own thread since it sounds pretty interesting!

Looks like a cross between Trine and The Night of the Rabbit to me.
