Chaos in Deponia?

Steam has it as a daily offer. I really really loved Daedelic's other adventure 'The Whispered World', but I think this one is part of a trilogy (3rd game is in the make I think). Has anyone played it? And do you need the (universally lower rated) prequel to enjoy the most out of it?

I actually don't know the answer to your questions but I do know you can get Deponia plus a bunch of other games for cheap on http://www.indiegala.com/ right now.  All except one of them activates on Steam.

Something about the name doesn't appeal to me at all and definitely doesn't scream "humorous adventure game".  If anything it made me think it was some sort of indie space combat or something.

I know it's just a name, but I had skipped this thread (and game) until I saw the Steam sale and I'm probably not the only one.
