A new Carmageddon game would certainly be welcome, but I wonder if they'd be able to get away with the blatant violence against pedestrians these days. If they could manage to keep the same spirit of the originals, I'd be in line on day one.
Back in the day, those games had some of the best physics I'd ever seen.

I loved the first two Carmageddons. My guess is that they'll announce in 10 days that the old games have been released on GOG or Steam or something. Seems unlikely that they could have kept an entirely new game under wraps for so long. But I'll be very happy if I'm wrong and we get some brand new splattering, smashing action.

It also seems weird that they'd reveal a new game right before E3, but I haven't seen anyone else announce a release on GOG (other than GOG). Would it be worth getting a whole web domain for that and paying to have people put a site together? Maybe you'll be able to play the old games through your browser. |

As mentioned in that other thread, they have a Kickstarter going to help support this one. Their video spends a bit too much time talking about the past and not enough showing the new game, but I guess that's how it goes. |

They've just announced a deal with GOG.com where anybody who donates $25 or more to the Kickstarter will get free downloads of the original Carmageddon and the Splat Pack. And if you haven't been paying attention, they've added a bunch more potential rewards like the 2 collectible Eagle car models and such. |

Cleaning out the basement, I stumbled on my disks for Carmageddon, the Splat Pack and Carmageddon 2. Now I have to decide if I want to struggle getting it to run or just wait for GOG.
I think I may wait, so I'm not disappointed with the kickstarter donation I just made.

Well, for me it ran in a little tiny box with the hud all around it! I'm sure I just haven't figured out how to get it to work right. OTOH, I'm still amazed at how good the controls are, with just the keyboard, too. I seem to remember some kind of Glide or 3DFX acceleration. Hopefully, I can get it to where I can actually tell people are people*. * |
