I'm curious. I didn't really like Outcast but am always looking to get my lightsaber fix. Does this one control better at all? How are the (offline) multiplayer options? Can I still take out a destroyer full of Landos if I am so inclined?

Well, I liked both Outcast and Jedi Academy...on the PC. I never played them on a console. I thought Outcast was top notch and continued the great Jedi Knight line.

Having played Outcast on the PC and Academy on the console, I can tell you that the console-style works well for this game. The third-person lightsabre mode (which is honestly what you'll usually be playing) is easy enough to control and is, in some ways, better. Of course the mouse is the best for the ol' FPS, but in third person it always felt a little unnatural to me. The console feels pretty good.
Of course the graphics won't look as nice, but we're talking about an older game anyway, so how great will they look on the PC? There's also a little bit of slowdown, but not enough to cry about.
Overall, especially if it's come down in price, I think Academy is a good buy.

I always thought the saber controls in outcast were a little sluggish. Never really felt like you were swinging death around. Obi Wan, a far inferior game, had what I feel are the best saber controls out there. Still, I liked the arena in Outcast where I would routinely choke fools and drop them off of ledges. Good times.
