Ron's musings from the MP reveal.

Also, the PC version getting some extra love this time around:

Quote
The PC version of November's Call of Duty Ghosts will be getting a little extra development love, according to the game's executive producer, Mark Rubin. As a result, it is probably going to be the best-looking version of the game, which has not been a given with this series.

"PC is taking a different tack from previous games [in the series,]" Rubin told Kotaku during a phone interview earlier this week during Ghosts' big multiplayer reveal event.

Older versions of Call of Duty, at least from Infinity Ward, the makers of the CoDs that come out in odd-numbered years, were built with the same graphics assets as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. "Now, PC has its own set of assets," Rubin said. "It's going to look better than any Call of Duty we've ever made on PC."

I think this is a direct result of common-ish architecture in the PC and Next Gen platforms.  We should see the PC version get a little sharper across the board.  smile

Blitz sounds like it could be insane:

Quote
Two opposing teams are dropped onto a map. There are two capture points on the map, one in each team's base. The goal is simple: Each team must capture the opposing control point while simultaneously protecting their own. The first team to 15 captures wins.

But there's a twist: The instant a player steps into an enemy control point, they are immediately teleported back to their base. You don't have to hold the control point for even a second. There's no flag to carry back to your base. The score tally just ticks up instantaneously and then you're right back in your own base, ready to defend it. Basically, Blitz is capture the flag on amphetamines, an adaptation of the classic game type for the twitchy, split-second confrontations we've come to expect from Call of Duty.

I did think the one where you pick up speed but explode if you don't get a kill was pretty amusing.

Yea....that wasn't supposed to be revealed yet, which is why it's not in my writeup.   A map rotation hiccuped and loaded a few Blitz games.  We got a tersely worded "no talky!" email.

which is pretty silly imo. I think all of these companies take these things a bit too seriously with the slow leaks.  It's not like Blitz is even close to a new 'game definining' feature anyway.

Yep, guns in space. You knew it was heading there.

CoD is getting ridiculous, but honestly, where else did they have to go? Who is invading the US now? Brazil combined with Mexico?

I suppose there's already a board game of the current CoD setting, it's called Fortress America. There's even giant space lasers, not the same as the rod of god, but close enough in effect.

I think it is really low of Microsoft to prohibit Infinity Ward from telling people that there are Dedicated Servers for COD on the PS4/PS3. Come on, how petty can you get! That is a major feature of the game. They seem pretty desperate at this point.

its hard to imagine who else it would be. Also seems to backup insider gossip from around E3 of MS doing things like this.

Infinity Ward is being paid to keep quiet about dedicated servers on any system other than the Xbox One. His tweet says as much. There have also been rumors to that effect for months now. As they say: where there is smoke, there is a fire. They gushed about dedicated servers on the Xbox One at E3. They "can't say specific systems" when asked directly about the PS3 and PS4? Uh-huh. Why in the world would they keep quiet about it, if not being paid to keep quiet about it. It would make no business sense.

That first one is just a hair long, but brilliant.

The second one was good, but I know my wife would let me talk at a restaurant about a game of CoD for exactly 3 seconds before giving me a look.  Not the interest smile that the redhead used, by the way.

but it IS crossgen, not sure why this is even worth mentioning.  I really doubt anyone thought launch titles (especially those appearing on current gen as well) would be the titles to showcase what the next gen can do.

While the graphics might not be the showcase perhaps dedicated servers would be?  Or are they moving to dedicated servers for the PS3/360 versions as well?
