Modern Warfare 4 is unsurprisingly Infinity Ward's next game, according to Bill Murray, the actor who voices series stalwart Captain Price (and no, he's not that Bill Murray).

Murray leaked the confirmation to This is Xbox after unknowingly sitting next to one of its editors on a plane.

"On Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4," he said. "I'm doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…"

The next Call of Duty game, Black Ops 2, isn't even due until 13th November, while a Wii U version will coincide with the system's launch. Historically Infinity Ward switches off with Treyarch to produce a new entry in the series every November, so it would make sense for Infinity Ward to release Modern Warfare 4 in November of 2013.

While it's no surprise there is another COD game,i really thought IW would of gone a completely new direction,the Modern Warfare series seem very exhausted now

Billy Murray, the voice actor behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Captain Price, has shot down reports that he recently confirmed a fourth entry in the blockbuster FPS series is in the works at Infinity Ward.

Late last month he was said to have told a fan that he was set to hold a meeting with the studio regarding a "straight" Modern Warfare sequel.
Responding to the widespread reporting of his comments, Infinity Ward said shortly afterwards: "Interesting news today, but it's not true. We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."

And now Murray has towed the party line on Twitter, implying that the work he was referring to in his original comments was related to the free-to-play Call of Duty game being developed exclusively for the Chinese market.

"This article is not accurate," he said. "I told the guy I was doing a special new Modern Warfare for China, not MW4.

"The guy I spoke to on the plane was very nice and I'm really pleased he loves the game but the facts have got a bit confused somewhere.

"Also I couldn't have said I was meeting them Monday as I was on a Monday evening flight to London! Sorry for the confusion!"

Nevertheless, a Modern Warfare sequel from Infinity Ward or co-developer Sledgehammer Games for release in 2013 remains a strong possibility.

Activision is going to publish another Call of Duty game towards the tail end of this year. Just try and look surprised, yeah?

"The Call of Duty franchise continues to set the bar for innovation and we expect a new Call of Duty game in development for 2013 to raise that bar even higher," blah-blahed CFO Dennis Durkin during the company’s financials conference call yesterday.

"There is increased volatility this year due to the ongoing console transition, which makes predicting the future more challenging than during normal uses in the cycle. For Call of Duty, consistent with our past practices, we are planning for the main line release in Q4 to be down versus 2012.”

I'm pretty sure that I am with Kato on this one. I am tired of seeing death replays showing me either not shooting and/or seeing my death in a place where I was not like around the wall /  being circle straffed when it did not happen like that on my screen. I could grin and bear the last few titles because I liked the camaraderie but there is only so much smiling I can do.

must of missed when they said it was Neversoft who was developing it this time....which means,i am a little more interested in this as i was expecting,but still they need to do something major to get me to buy the game..it has to be different than the usual 'update' games for a start

Tesco is carrying Xbox 360 and PS3 product listings for the unannounced but previously rumoured Call of Duty: Ghosts.

According to the listings, the game is being developed by Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward and set for release on December 30 (this is likely just a placeholder, as Activision always launches Call of Duty in November).
Activision social media manager Dan Amrich said earlier this month that he expects 2013's entry in the Call of Duty series, which may be Modern Warfare 4, to be revealed no later than E3 in early June.

Meanwhile, a Spanish retailer called XtraLife (via NintendoLife) listed Ghosts for release on the PC and Wii U with box art. Last week's leak made mention of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 only. Activision did release Black Ops 2 for Nintendo's high definition console.

Activision has confirmed a Call of Duty: Ghosts release date of November 5 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Powered by a new engine, it's also in development for next-gen platforms.
