If anyone interested in MW3 has gotten close to prestiging in previous titles but never bit the bullet, be sure to do so in anticipation of MW3. For each game you've prestiged in (Modern Warfare 1, World At War, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops) you get an extra prestige token in MW3. One token per title max, and you need to have prestiged and played a round after doing it.

Bah. I don't think I've prestiged since world at war. Not because I didn't want to, but because I never maxed out the level.

Black Ops is the only COD game in which I've prestiged. I'm actually about to flip for the 4th or 5th time, which is unheard of for me in any COD release. I'm hoping MW3 is as much fun, if not more, to motivate me to do so again. Although I think part of it was making leveling up much more achievable in Black Ops than past iterations. It seemed in past games it took forever to reach the max level, which I never managed to do, so hopefully MW3 has an achievable leveling system rather than the impossibly high max level of past games.

I cant' believe they finally added the feature I had been hoping for for the last 4 games. Now the tough choice is whether to use my prestige tokens for it or not. Do I unlock extra custom classes, or do I unlock weapons/equipment permanently so I always have my favorite gear even when I flip.

I'm thinking Stinger, one favorite rifle, and the rest to custom classes.

All Primary Weapons, Secondary Weapons, Perks, Equipment are available as prestige unlocks Blind Eye, Assassin, Dead Silence, Weapon, Equipment, lethal grenade, non-lethal grenade, lots of slots to unlock something... Blast Shield Pro is Tac Mask Pro, which was awesome.

All sorts of stuff from double xp, double weapon xp, permanent unlocks, titles, or erasing all prestige ranks and gamestats and starting over at level 1 no prestige

Looks like you have to prestige once (rank 80!) in MW3 before you can use your prestige tokens.

Reports are going both ways. There was apparently an official twitter that said you can use them right away, so who knows.

not sure where you saw that, 402's twitter specifically said you can spend them right away.

I made a tactical error. I sent Batman back to Gamefly thinking this was coming out this week. I was very sad to see 11/8/11 as the release date.

Just don't think they would be making such a big deal about the tokens from the prior games if we have to wait 80 levels to use them; then again, it might make more sense to play through once and not assume that the weapons are identitical to mw2. What if the acr is nerfed and you just used a prestige token on it right out of the gate?

I pre-ordered MW3 at Gamestop this morning. I was going to get the Hardened version, but they quit taking pre-orders on that three weeks ago. So I am also going to get the Elite package as well, based on the discussions above about how it's cheaper in the long run if you plan on getting all the map packs, which I always do.

Whether you can use them immediately or have to wait, I will almost certainly wait to use them until I've tried everything once.
Then I will probably pick a fav weapon/equip/perk combo and if they don't unlock early, unlock them permanently. I levelled through prestiges MUCH faster sticking with one combo and tearing shit up than I did switching stuff around and earning the bonus xp from the challenges.

Has anyone heard you have to activate your founder's status by a certain date if you buy the Hardend Edition? I'm considering the Hardend but it will be a Christmas gift that won't get played until Christmas.

I asked at Gamestop about the activating date for Founders status of the Elite pack and was told that it had to be activated by November 13th.

Ya that's what i had heard. I'm getting this as a Santa Gift for me and my son and didn't want to open it till Christmas. How do you activate the Founder's Status? Is it a code through Xbox Live? Maybe i can just open it to activate the Founder's and do nothing else till Christmas morning.

That's really odd if they put that kind of limit on the code. Generally you just put the code in on the xbox website or dash.

Did they say for sure how to get them? What part of acquiring them are you unsure about? I didn't think that aspect was in question. Prestiging in previous titles, single player campaign, spec ops, and of course prestiging in the new game.

Pretty sure they said you get a token for completing the single player campaign, and for doing it on veteran difficulty. Fourzerotwo confirmed on twitter that if you have tokens the prestige shop will open for you, so you do not have to wait.

You have to have prestiged and have played a round after prestiging. Their magic all-knowing servers will do the rest, apparently. Only applies to the 360 since the magic doesn't work on other platforms. One token max per game, no matter how many times you've prestiged in that game.

Rumor is that finishing the mw3 campaign gets you a token. And pug, I thought ps3 got the tokens too? Have not seen where it is a 360 only feature.

You're right: it's just the PC and Wii versions that are excluded.
