When are the new maps supposed to be made available to the general public?  I didn't realize that they are first exclusive to Elite membership holders, assuming I could just pay space bucks for the maps, but they weren't available to be just yet.   

I am wondering that as well,Xbox has exclusiveness for a month,but does that mean within that time the non-elite people will get the maps before Elite PC and PS3 people?...sounds a bit off for the PC and PS3 Elite people if they do

If I have to wait a month then it works to their detriment because by then I won't be interested anymore.  The point would be for me to play the new maps, when they're new, with friends.  If I'm not able to, then there's little reason to pick them up a month down the road.

The maps are available to non-elite holders when the map packs are done.  Map packs are generally 4 maps.  Part of the benefits of Elite are that we get the maps as they come out instead of waiting for packs.  The pack will be in March.

Elite members get everything included in cost AND get it all as soon as it is available.

CoD is definitely a cash cow, but I'm not sure how you can say that giving people early access to something is milking it.  They could have just made elite holders wait until March and then get them, but we get it early.  That's a good thing.

Wow, just read from an apparently frustrated 402 that they are pushing a hotfix tonight to reduce fire rate of all akimbo secondaries by 50%. Apparently he was getting spammed hard by people wanting the fmg9s fixed and so... They're going to do that to all of them???

seems kinda stupid.  reducing the rate by 50% would make akimbo kinda pointless.  FMG's are crazy OP, but it's still a very strange 'fix'

Fumble and I are playing this right now.  It's a lot like Halo's infected, so of course it's a lot of fun.

It does suck, though, that if you're the last survivor, you get the losing side's match bonus.

new map on the 21st February

Today, Activision has announced that the next update will arrive on February 21st. Overwatch is the name of the new map that will be available to Call of Duty Elite members, and it takes place high above New York City.

Zzz... Game has lost most of its appeal to me. I look to put more of my time into black ops for my cod fix. This games lag compensation just sucks the fun out of it for me in what seems like a majority of matches. Even with all the dlc being prepaid I just don't feel any desire to download the content and play. Seems like this cod has had the shortest "honeymoon" phase for me by far.

Could that be why I got a message saying I was promoted to "Commander" when I hadn't Prestiged up from level 80 after my first Prestige? It just came out of the blue, just told me that I had been promoted, but no change in my level or new titles or badges.

That's been the case with Call of Duty games for at least the past couple iterations - XBox users get DLC first.

Plus, console specific goodies/perks have been the rage for a while now.  PS3 users got the Battlefield 3 DLC first, for instance.

I've been meaning to ask this:  Does everyone experience the music pauses when going to the Live menu?  I can't start a game for half a minute or so, presumably while something loads in the background, and the whole time the sound hiccups like crazy.  It's not a big deal, and I can live with it, but I wanted to make sure at least some others are experiencing it.

Mine sits and hiccups and churns until I press the guide button and then it usually continues to the menu. Read somewhere that it was due to the theater being enabled.

well the new MP map is alright,nothing special...the last thing i want though is that whiney voiced prick down my ear all through the map(the same voice from the intro)

there was an update also,so when you join LIVE,it still stutters for two minutes,but now it briefly goes to the intro screen and the sound stutters and makes you think you need to restart your xbox...but you don't,whatever the update did,it just made things worse...if it was indeed to fix that(probably not)

oh and also when you choose to play the ELITE maps,its a random TDM,Kill Confirmed or Domination match...you can't just say like play TDM,until i guess it makes its way to the standard rotation...annoying

Agreed. There should be an Elite selection to play the new maps on TDM only; they had this on the previous new map releases, seems odd to not have it for this release. Let's see what they do for next week when all the new maps are available to all.

'Collection 1' is now up on Xbox Live for 1200 MSP...4 maps and 2 Spec Op's maps

(wow,didn't we ELITE have that last map and the spec ops missions for long LOL)

FWIW though past COD titles have had 4 MP maps for 1200 points,so it looks like it's actually a better deal than usual for the non-elites

Maps Foundation and Sanctuary are content drops seven and eight respectively. One screenshot, of the Sanctuary map, has been released. It's below.

Meanwhile, Activision confirmed that PlayStation 3 owning Elite premium subscribers can download the multiplayer map Black Box, and two Spec Ops missions, Black Ice and Negotiator, from this Thursday, 12th April. These are content drops four, five and six respectively.
