Call of Duty: Black Ops' second map pack, 'Escalation', has been accidentally announced by GAME Australia.

Going from the e-flyer below, the second Black Ops map pack will include five maps; Zoo, Hotel, Convoy, Stockpile and Zombie map Call of the Dead.

The DLC will be released on Xbox Live on May 3, followed by PSN and PC at a later date.

I actually thought the second map packs were going to be called Second Strike and Third Strike..as in 3 strikes and its out(the next COD,lol)

The news came out about what the zombie mode of Escalation really entails, and I'm suprised no one's talking about it here.

First off, here's the trailer for Call of the Dead

Holy shit!  Grindhouse-style George Romero-inspired and starring Danny Trejo, Micheal Rooker, Robert Englund and Sarah Michelle Gellar.  Plus a cameo by Romero himself.

I wasn't really thinking about picking this up, but now I'm not sure if I can miss it.

MP only - they just added a new zombies level. You can play the zombie level by yourself though -just like the other ones. Private match with just you

I haven't played Zombie mode in this one but in COD:WAW it was really tuned for 4 players. Alone, you'd be slaughtered in minutes if you went out of your little starting area, and even with 2 players it was really difficult.

The new map pack is out. So far I've played on three of the four new MP maps.

Stockpile: Not that interesting. Reminds me of the CoD:World at War map with the brewery in the middle. The doors you can operate don't have that much bearing on the gameplay. Maybe when I play it more I'll find some new locations that make it more appealing.

Zoo: Very excellent map. Several interesting elevated locations and some cool hidden passages. The bear cave and the "dungeon" with a trap door are unusual.

Hotel: Also an excellent map. Very large with some clever paths along the outside of the maps. The elevators are very cool. First map in the CoD series where I can remember someone yelling "He's behind the piano!"

ahh,you have not played what i think is the best of the 4,i love Convoy set in middle America(and 50s or 60s by the look of the cars),picnic area,motel and gas station which 'dings' when you run past the pumps,LOL

Zoo i like,its much bigger than i thought at first,as you say because of the hidden passages,and with the monorail er ..rail that extends throughout the map

Hotel i hated at first but i am warming up to it,i love using the elevator and then surprise attacking enemies....a one liner is definitely needed at that point

Stockpile is probably my least favourite as well,and i can see your point about the W@W similarities with the snow as well

Maybe I'll get my copy back out.  Haven't played in quite some time, so odds are my skills will be rather rusty, but a buddy recently picked up a copy so I might have some motivation to revisit it.  Can't say that I'm overwhelmed with glee about double XP, but it might make me that much more likely to play.  I won't be purchasing the new maps, though, as I don't play nearly enough to justify it.

During an earnings call Activision revealed the first Black Ops DLC pack sold 1.4 million copies on its first day on Xbox Live.

Selling for $15 apiece, this means the publisher grossed over $21 million in a 24-hour span, which Activision Publishing division CEO Eric Hirschberg says is a 20 percent increase over the Stimulus Package DLC offered for Modern Warfare 2. Their point being? Losing Infinity Ward has yet to weaken the FPS Goliath. If anything, it's stronger than ever.

so,$21 million on its first day,then you will have people buying it later or when they get paid..and then eventually you will have it on the PS3 as well...could easily make $50million for this map pack alone
(not sure what the deal is with PC players)

lets be fair about that 20% increase over the MW2 Stimulus Package though,that package did include 'old' maps that you could still play on the 360 on COD4 and still selling for 1200 points...MW2 map packs were and are still the only COD map packs i did not buy

Had a free rental so I picked this up because I've had the urge to kill rising.

Played about 40 minutes and had a decent time. Rusty ask heck after four months off and spent most of the evening on maps I hate.

Died more than I killed and so far am glad it's a rental.  Not much lag and the biggest issue was getting used to how fast things move and getting re acclimated to the controller.

Still almost 500k people on when I played. That's pretty impressive.

I've been back playing, mostly because the f2p Steam weekend got me enthused again. I must say that despite the game performing better on my 360, I much prefer the PC version. Considering I played on a free weekend in which there was bound to be n00b's like myself, the caliber of play by the average PC player was impressive. By that I don't mean they were more skilled and deadly -they weren't- but they played far better as a team on average. I swear I went from rank 1-18 in 1/2 the time it took on the 360. I only play on the original maps and I doubt I'll ever be able to justify the hefty prices they charge to get this new pack or the previous 2.
