Seems Call Of Duty 7,will be set in various time frames and is due in November9pretty much every COD title has been released in the first or second week of November so this is no surprise) from WWII,Vietnam and present day,and its going by the name of Call of Duty:Black Ops this is all info from 'undisclosed Activision sources' http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=240722The source also claims that in certain missions players are able to take control of a member of Britain's SAS. One of these SAS missions reportedly places you in close combat during a mission in the Iranian embassy in London during the 1980s to remind you guys, here is the news report on the SAS Iranian Embassy Siege...haha,look at that BBC1 logo!! 5 minutes 7 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yD4iD71uOwalso,to add apparently the game is to have Dedicated servers http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=240727We'll check in with Activision, but expect the usual 'rumour and speculation' comment..

SP sounds fun, but I think this will be the first COD I just rent. DM MP is just not doing it for me anymore.

Yeah, won't be suckered into buying this one. Same MP formula, same SP formula... might reconsider if I hear that it's a little different from the last 4 CoD games.

I can picture the mp now.... You start out at level 1 with a pointy stick and rocks, gainig access to increasingly advanced weaponry as you advance until level 50, where you are fully kitted out in modern gear, but once you get enough xp to hit 51 you're automatically knocked back down to level 1.

you might want to re-read the idea; I made it Fuzz proof besides, I'd get bored long before level 50.

No, you should start in like WWII and then fall through a wormhole into the Civil War, and then steal the plans to the ironclads and then try to go back to WWII, except it never happened because there were no U-boats, and then go back to the Revolutionary War and step on a butterfly causing your parents to never be born and then you disappear from existence. That would be awesome.

we saw Space in MW2,but it turned out to be just a cutscene...i may of seen Space as well, not entirely sure,LOL..i did see Astronauts, but they are the pilots of SR-71 Blackbird spy craft<<i am not that smart,Kotaku told me i saw lots of Vietnam however, lots of their Helicopters<<again i am not that smart,a friend of mine services Helicopters in Iraq and he loves everything to do with Helicopters CVG have lots of screenies they have taken from the trailer(some posted below, more in the link) http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=245034Vietnam Helicopter looks more modern, but i am not an expert i thought it was after WWII,someone correct me if i am wrong,is that Japanese,WWII on the right? Astronaut/Blackbird Pilot dude this is the space scene, that i am not sure was a space scene but looks like a space scene another Vietnam type pic(looks like Solid Snake from MGS3 which was set in 1964 i think)

i thought it was after WWII,someone correct me if i am wrong,is that Japanese,WWII on the right? the stock on the rifle looks a bit too modern for WW2 but I could be wrong. Definitely not a WW2 rifle. The flip up rear sight and front sight post are seen on a lot of modern era M16/M4 rifles. For the M16, specifically the M16A4. M16's had fixed carry handles built into the upper receiver from the time they were first issued all the way into the 90's. That flip up rear sight wasn't possible until the flat top upper was added to the rifle. That was in 1994. Also the same year production started on the M4. Looking at how short the barrel is on that rifle it's either an M4 or an even shorter custom SBR. So if they do a story that's not set in the 90's that contains the weapon in that pic they're fudging history, which really wouldn't be surprising...

Now that I've seen the newer footage from E3 and read Ron's preview, I'm starting to really look forward to this game. What's most appealing to me is that it's cold war era, which is an era I already play extensively with both PC games and boardgames. After UBI decided to take the Ghost Recon series zinging off into some far fetched, futuristic era, this game should make up for that loss. My only regret is that the SP campaign isn't playable in co-op, but it was the same for GRAW and GRAW2 and I really enjoyed those. And being able to play a level or 2 in 68 Nam and take the controls of a Russian Hind is just awesome! I only rented MW2, so this is looking like the next CoD game I'll own.

there is a live multiplayer reveal by Treyarch going on right now,and i am reading the live blog
it has Bot Match Multiplayer(Combat Training)..you can play all the multiplayer maps, but offline(practise for when you do go online)
more game modes: Sticks and Stones mode-where the player has only a crossbow and a throwing knife
Gun Game mode-where weapons progress and are given to you after kills
Sharp Shooter-everyone starts with the same weapon and it cycles to different weapons
Wager Match-there is a new currency for ingame called COD Points(CP)(you can buy things with them customization stuff etc)..you can gamble with them, and then the top three people of the match take the money EDIT;this mode has everyone spawning with a pistol with 1 shot, and 3 lives..its called One on the Chamber, all of these modes are Wager Matches
we already knew about Theatre mode, which is a cool(change from first to third person or free cam)
no mention of the rumoured 360 exclusive BETA

Great article Ron - thanks for posting. I do have one question if you don't mind (or perhaps someone else can answer) what is the deal with Combat Training? I have read and re-read the paragraph below and cannot figure it out? The game looks pretty familiar until Dan leaps from a second story window in a new mode called “Combat Training”. The game mode allows folks to bridge the game between offline multiplayer and online multiplayer. Combat Training has a completely separate multiplayer perk, rank, and level system that is separate from the online component. Treyarch realized that 30% of people have never played the franchise online, and this new mode is meant to fix those shenanigans. This mode came about from a dummy training mode that the internal team created to bring an offline dummy called “Larry” to life in the game world. This feature grew until it was a completely offline or cooperative multiplayer mode that will ship with the game.

via KotakuPerk 1 Lightweight - Move Faster (Pro) Scavenger - Pick up ammo from fallen enemies. Replenish lethal grenades. (Pro) Ghost - Undetectable by the Spy Plane and the Blackbird. Flak Jacket - Reduces explosive damage. Hardline - Killstreaks require 1 less kill.
Perk 2 Hardened - Bullets penetrate better. Scout - Hold breath longer. Steady Aim - Increased hip-fire accuracy. Sleight of Hand - Faster reloads. Warlord - Equip two attachments to your primary weapon.
Perk 3 Marathon - Longer sprint. Ninja - Silent movement. Second Chance - Pull out your pistol before dying. Hacker - Ability to detect enemy equipment and explosives. Tactical Mask - Reduces the effect of flash and concussion grenades.
Killstreaks
3 – Spy Plane 3 – RC-XD (remote bomb) 4 – Counter Spy Plane 4 – SAM Turret 5 – Care Package 5 – Napalm Strike 6 – Sentry Gun 6 – Mortar Team 7 – Attack Helicopter 7 – Valkyrie Rockets 8 – Blackbird 8 – Rolling Thunder 9 - Chopper Gunner 11 – Attack Dogs 11 - Gunship
So, seems to be some encouraging things there - no Commando, no Stopping Power, No OMA, W@W-style Marathon and no death streaks, meaning no Painkiller. The fact that they only list "Pro" under two perks makes me wonder if they haven't got the full list here. There is also a much smaller range for killstreaks - no 15 or 25. So the 3 questions I can think remain for me are: 1. What is the deal with the ballistic knife? Is this going to be the new abused weapon? How does it work? 2. Is there a tactical knife? (Hoping no) 3. How is the noob tube handled in the game?

"3. How is the noob tube handled in the game?" The flak jacket perk. Tubes were just as bad in w@w but they never really did anything (other than a unarmed grace period at the start of a round) other than the rock/paper/scissors perk route. At least there is no one man army or danger close.
I do like that they leveled the playing field by not including stopping power.
