Call of Duty 4 Shipping already

So I've seen some posts around the net that people already have the retail game.  Sounds like depending on where you live, Gamestop will have it Monday or Tuesday.  Some place called 'Video Games New York' is supposedly selling the game already.

Can not wait.  Fricking living in the middle of the country sucks...

At least one new trailer of the Arcade Mode is up on game trailers.

A certain smurff now works for one of the local GS, and the manager says Tuesday as of right now.  I suppose I could get lucky and find out it'll be here tomorrow, but I'm thinking the lack of a phone call from Aeris=not gonna happen.

Unfortunately this has proven to be complete BS every time they've printed it and I end up going to Gamestop despite my hatred for them.

I've never had an issue with my local Best Buy not having games in by the time the ad guarantees them.  Circuit City on the other hand....

Seems like the local walmarts (south-west missouri) are supposed to have the game out at midnight tonight.  A road trip is planned.

MY BB seems to have a never ending rotation of new employees who have no idea how their store works.  I wait until the internet says the game is in stock at the store.  Then I arrive and it's not on the shelf.  Eventually, I find an employee and explain the situation.  He tells me that the internet stock is not the same as the store stock.  I tell him I've gone through this every week for the past hundred weeks and am beginning to feel like I'm in Groundhog Day and that the game is right there in the back room, if he could just go get it please.  He usually grunts and types some things into a computer then doubtfully mutters, "Well, I'll check..."  About ten minutes later, he comes out with the game and a look on his face that says he thinks he's now God's Gift to Best Buy. 

Honestly, if it weren't for all the coupons and rewards program and the fact that Gamestop is 4000% worse, I wouldn't bother.

To alleviate all the "who has it/who is getting it" talk, why don't these idiot game companies just ship the game out BEFORE the release date, so on arrival, or on release day, they can just put them out and sell them? I will never understand the whole "firm" game release date thing, if it's done, ship it out, sell it, and make your money.

I pre-ordered at my local Gamestop. Yesterday (Sunday) their automated calling system left a message that COD4 was due "Monday early evening" at the local store. Now, knowing from previous experience that they don't want to piss off the pre-order folks, this usually means that the shipping box will probably arrive in the mid-afternoon UPS shipment today, but allowing for traffic, time to unload and a reluctance to specify an actual hour, I suspect their choices were "late afternoon" and "early evening". The choice of "early evening" gives them some wiggle room.

Now all this is supposing that they are using local UPS. I do remember for GTASA or other such game they actually sent over a clerk to an airport an hour away just to be sure to have it that first day.

Anyway, they have been pretty  spot on with their pre-order calling, but sadly I can't make it there tonight, so all this is academic.

Well considering that Calvin and CeeKay haven't played with the GT crew for a while anyway (that I know of)... this is nothing new.   

I"m pretty sure I have no chance of getting this before tomorrow afternoon.  But it was nice to hope for a bit.

To share the obligatory Gamestop experience:

Had two separate GS's in my area tell me the game was in stock but they would not sell to non-reserve customers until tomorrow.

I'm sure the GS managers (or district managers) think they will still get their money tomorrow while teaching me a "valuable" lesson in preordering but the reality is that they have now lost that sale to Best Buy, CC, or Target and I will continue to refuse to preorder any game from them.

So just for the sake of self torture I called gamestop. I asked when they were going to have it in stock and he actually started to say they had it but stopped after just a "We have" and then continued with "It'll be out for sale tomorrow."

So I basically just got a big "We have it sitting right here but we don't feel like taking your money."

Maybe I can find it at a local place. I think there's one called Game City that just opened right next door to wal-mart. I think I'll check them out tomorrow morning.
