Alright campers, I felt like starting up a Best Quotes thread and wanted to do one for the gamers. Any particular quote out there grab your attention and make you laugh/cry/cringe/et al?

Sly Boots (referring to his socks): "I'll pick them up tomorrow."
Grampos: "Tomorrow? TOMORROW?! YOU SON OF A B*TCH!!!"

Er, granted, that really doesn't fit in with the best quotes, but damn was it a funny scene. biggrin

But, to get more into the spirit of things...

Wolfenstein: Ach! My leiben!
Final Fantasy IV(I think): You spoony bard!
Mortal Kombat (Scorpion): Get over here!
Warcraft 2: Zug-zug.

This is familiar, and I should know it. However, I don't. What game is it from?

Also, I have to go with "Zug-Zug" as posted above. I loved All of Blizzard's funny little quotes.

Oh snap! I can't believe I didn't quote that line from Planescape Torment! Almost a damn crime.

As Fellow said it's from Planescape: Torment.  The line and the whole idea behind it developed so much during the game that it was breathtaking.

That would be why it was only "familiar" and not in my memory.

I'm one of the blasphemous few that didn't like that game enough to come anywhere close to finishing it. Of course I was only borrowing it, so my disappointment was mild.

This was all shortly before I realized RPG's aren't my type of game in general.

ok, all of these quotes are from the same game because whiteboyskim's post got me to remembering:

to a ambivalent crowd of dead beats: "CAN YOU HEAR ME SAY NOTHING?"

also said to some dead beats, with enthusiasm: "Hi, what's your name?"

singing to the tune of "rock-a-bye baby": "go to sleep sewer thing, close your big cave-blind eyes..."

When I heard that for the first time it was perfect. It was a long, hard road to get to the end of the game and the final battle and after the build-up scene I was ready to rumble. The order I had my characters in left Minsc for last, so by the time it got close to him I was ready to go. Then Minsc ended with that battle cry and I was ready to leap into the screen and fight Irenicus myself. One of those "Perfect Gaming Moments"(tm) that always stands out for me. smile

Lonk the Sane: "My job? Taking care of crazies like you. Making sure you don't go and hurt yourselves with your deviant powers. And cookies, I make cookies. "

Minsc : "Magic is impressive but now Minsc leads. Swords for everyone!"

Sarevok: "I orchestrated a war to slaughter thousands. I have felt the cold embrace of death. I have witnessed the horrors of the abyss. But you, Viconia... you scare me."

Jon Irenicus : "Life... is strength. That is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world.  I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings? "

Anyone pumped??

Scientist: For God's sake, open the silo door! They're coming for us and it's our only way out! Oh my God, we're doomed!

G-Man: Gordon Freeman, in the flesh - or, rather, in the hazard suit. I took the liberty of relieving you of your weapons. Most of them were government property. As for the suit, I think you've earned it. The borderworld, Xen, is in our control, for the time being... thanks to you. Quite a nasty piece of work you managed over there,; I am impressed. That's why I'm here, Mr. Freeman. I have recommended your services to my... employers, and they have authorized me to offer you a job. They agree with me that you have limitless potential. You've proved yourself a decisive man so I don't expect you'll have any trouble deciding what to do. If you're interested, just step into the portal and I will take that as a yes. Otherwise, well, I can offer you a battle you have no chance of winning... rather an anticlimax after what you've just survived. Time to choose...

I can't stop!!!

HK-47 : Statement: HK-47 is ready to serve, master.
Revan: You don't need to call me master, you know.
HK-47 : Query: Don't I? I was under the assumption that organic meatbags such as yourself enjoyed such forms of address.
Revan: "Organic meatbags?"
HK-47 : Retraction: Did I say that out loud? I apologize, master. While you are a meatbag, I suppose I should not call you as such.
Revan: You just called me a meatbag again!
HK-47 : Explanation: It's just that... you have all these squisy parts, master. And all that water! How the constant sloshing doesn't drive you mad, I have no idea...
Revan: Neither do I, come to think of it...
HK-47 : Statement: Now do you understand the travails of my existence, master? Surely it does not compare to your existence, but still...
Revan: I survive. Somehow.
HK-47 : Commentary: As do I. It is our lot in life, I suppose, master. Shall we find something to kill to cheer ourselves up?

Join? DIE! Join? DIE!

Look at you, hacker.

I CANNOT be bargained with, I CANNOT be got around...

nd of course, gaming's equivalent of The Godfather (as in, most quotable):

Mr. Flores, I'm ready to take you now.

It shone, pale as bone
As I stood there alone
And I thought to myself how the moon,
That night, cast its light
On my heart's true delight,
And the reef where her body was strewn.

OH, Manny, you do get it!

Max Payne: There was something disturbingly familiar about the note on the desk. The handwriting was all pretty curves.
Michelle Payne : [the note reads] You're in a graphic novel.
Max Payne : Suddenly it all made sense. The freeze-frame poses, the word bubbles hanging in the air, the inability to move. I was in a graphic novel. Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.
