Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is how the content breaks down - There are four main types of content -

Campaign - single or co-op story mode with cutscenes.  instanced, so you don't see other players unless they're in your party.  Missions are replayable, but people are speculating the campaign will probably be about the same length as the Halo campaigns.  I think the whole campaign is supposed to be playable solo, but we won't know for sure until the game is out.

Crucible - 6 multiplayer game modes, like deathmatch, capture the flag, control points, etc. 1-6 player teams

Free roam - single or co-op.  wander around open areas taking on enemies and random events.  You can play by yourself, but other players will be visible.

End-game/other - strikes, raids, daily events.  strikes and raids require groups, but I'm not sure about the daily events

Most of what you have mentioned for endgame can be done throughout from what I've read, with the exception of the weekly events and raids.

If this us accurate, then I would definitely grab the game

From what I've seen, this is pretty close if not right on.  I've played both the alpha and beta and it seems like this is accurate.  It's the end game stuff that I'm not sure about, as the beta only let you go up to level 8 (I think).  For any stuff at that level, you could use matchmaking without issue.  Obviously, you take your chances with that just like any game.

So you are aware, the single player story on this game is not a stellar story.  Admitingly, many of the story elements are being kept out of the beta, but what is in there is not an amazing story.  The game is fun (in my opinion), but if you want to play it for the story only, you would probably be better off waiting until some reviews come out from the final game to see if it improves.  The most fun I've had with the game had nothing to do with the story, but with the random events that occured bringing in a bunch of people to destroy a walker or protect something.

For me the gameplay felt so good and responsive I couldn't care less about the story.  Almost wish they had kept the bad voice over so I could fight through a campy moon wizard MST3000 voice over.

Oh, I agree completely.  I don't play multiplayer shooters (and the amount of times I get killed shows that) but I think game is pretty damn awesome, but I don't want someone going in thinking they will get their money's worth just from the story.

I only played the beta but I thought they did...keep the bad voice over.  I've never seen dinklage in anything (and I had to be told it was his voice), but he's terrible in Destiny.

He's actually a fantastic actor.  He's great on Game of Thrones, but also in movies like The Station Agent.

In regards to the VO, in the beta they cut some lines from the Alpha and added a filter to make him sound more synthetic that wasn't present in the Alpha.

I thought the VO in the beta was fine, he IS a robot after all.  The alpha VO though was cheesy and hilarious

Yeah I thought that Bungie wanted a somewhat "robot/AI" kind of performance. Sure it sounds funny without the filter but sounds fine with it on. The AI in portal would sound pretty weird without the robotic filter right?

There's samples of the GlaDOS voice without the filtering, it sounds pretty dull.

My main concern is the lack of content if the exp packs aren't in the mix.

I missed the beta due to my crapped out XB1 (lightning).  I watched some of the multiplayer match footage (yawn), but it seems there might be a decent PvE co-op layer?  I was getting a Borderlands type feel from the last link, and next gen Borderlands would be lovely.

nobody tell ATB that preordering digitally (and preloading) is going live any minute and that Destiny and the CE Destiny are already showing in the XB1 store online, both web and consoles.

Now it's been removed.  I can still see it since I pinned the bundle before they nuked it.  Hopefully it's just a temp removal and not like their 100% reversal of preloading like on Titanfall

Some people were able to buy it in the short time it was available.  MS did finally acknowledge that it will indeed be up for preorder and preloading soon and that it was a mistake that it was available earlier.

Do it.  The expansion pack alone is $35, so the extra goodies are damn near free.  At least, that's my justification.

It's almost all the same stuff, and you save $10.  You won't need the metal case since you won't have a disk to worry about inserting.

The online one has the expansions too, no need for the physical one.

edit: only in-game stuff you will be missing is the paint job on the sparrow (which you can get next year anyway)  otherwise the maps and books and metal case.  The digital guardian edition is identical to this and $90 instead of $100

I've become so spoiled with not swapping disks that it more than makes up for lack of resale for me.  I also realized just how little I would play most steam titles if there was a physical swap needed.

Having 2 games on disk and the rest digital showed me that simply because it took more effort, i only played the digital and the game in the drive.  silly, but true.

I'm upgrading my PS4 to a 2TB drive this weekend just so I can keep more games on drive.  Drives are cheap too, only set me back 90 bucks.

Just off Amazon, it's not a SSD or anything.  Also just 5400 RPM, though that is what comes default in the PS4, suppose I could have went for 7200.

This one, which you have to remove from the enclosure.  If you note the Amazon reviews some talk about using it for their PS4.
