Am I missing something about this game? It seems people are going crazy over this. But it doesn't look very exciting to me. It's like TF2 with parkour. Is there more in depth stuff I'm not finding? It be neat to have a shooter that doesn't suck, aka not CoD. But eh, this looks like a 20 dollar sale game to me.

Wait, we're supposed to stay interested in a PC game for more than 2 weeks (2 months for MMOs)? That's CRAZY TALK!

It's a shame not to use the free 4 weeks most MMOs give you, CK! I'm interested in Brink but given my pathetic motion sickness issues with everything (even some 3rd-personers), I really am hoping for some sort of demo here.

I have only used D2D twice, and this being the 2nd time. But, I pre-ordered, got the discount (25% off), and then was able to pre-load on steam with no issues.
So, I am all set and ready to play at midnight tonight.

I've had no problems with D2D, and especially not with Steamworks games, Brink included. I'm preloaded and set for midnight.

so, played through one mission on the campaign. I really hadn't been paying attention to SP so I didn't realize each mission is basically like a MP game against bots, complete with the classes and respawning. I was expecting a tighter story experience.

wow, singleplayer looks like it may be an exercise in frustration. as far as I can tell there is no way to direct your AI teammates to accompany you, defend a spot or wipe their own asses, so a lot of times you find yourself on your own trying to capture the flag complete a goal only to get gunned down by all the enemy AI sitting around the flag objective. Plus who the hell sets a charge to blow up a makeshift barricade with 35 seconds on the timer?
seriously, the first Unreal Tournament had better AI control than this game does. it also looks like SP is going to be pretty short, so if you're in it solely for that I'd say hold off for a big price drop.

Same here, I was totally caught offguard by that. I generally like to finish the SP campaign before moving to MP but I think I will skip that this time and focus on MP/co-op. So yeah, if you're looking for a typical SP campaign with a story, don't get Brink.

honestly, I didn't pay any attention to the SP aspect but from the way they were talking about the story dealing with a battle between two factions for the fate of the Ark I was expecting something more than Unreal Tournament Lite bot matches. I'm hoping to get some MP in tonight to see how that plays out.

the SP is the same as the MP, you can even have enemy players drop in on your campaign.

I did enough research to know that MP was what I was mainly getting this game for. If it had a great SP campaign, it would have been icing.

I actually thought it was kind of an interesting touch that the SP campaign was just like the MP, wasn't that their whole "thing" - unifying Co-op, SP and MP? My problem was that for a game that was supposed to be "noob friendly" I felt like I was just thrown into a chaotic Unreal Tournament (or whatever game) map and left to just run around shooting, healing, dying with no rhyme or reason. Not that it wasn't fun and I liked that I had agent Bauer on my team. I swear I have no idea what the goals were or what we achieved or why I was given credit for completing the first mission. Did I want my hand held? Yes! As far as I saw there was no in-game tutorial. There's an opening video that tells you the basics but I was hoping for a full-on tutorial that told you everything, and explained things like how the SMART would work. I think I saw it in action, but I'm not sure.
I also couldn't figure out how to get MP going or invite Kub or whoever to a game. I thought it would be more obvious.
P.S. I sent out a ton of random friend invites to GT members last night while waiting for it to unlock. Be warned!

I would say start with the challenge maps. The first one went through a lot of stuff and the other challenge maps looks like they each focus on a different aspect. That's where I started anyway.

They just made it sound like so much more, though. Letting you play an objective-based team shooter solo may "unify" SP and MP, but it doesn't necessarily make for a cohesive, immersive, and fulfilling narrative experience. Even BFBC2 could muster an attempt at a solo campaign worth playing, and it had its roots in a franchise defined by multiplayer first, if not multiplayer only (with the exception of the console-only original Bad Company, IIRC). I feel like I've paid full price for an extremely nice re-skinning of the same team shooters we've been playing for the last decade. It's not bad in itself. It's just nothing new. Kudos to the marketing team for separating me from my cash via pre-order, which is something that's very hard to do. It's my own fault; there was no pre-release Quick Look. No demo. No beta. I bought the hype, and the beautifully produced trailers.

So what's the consensus on the Multiplayer? Worth it? I didn't even really know there was SP until last week, so that doesn't really bug me.
Is the gameplay worth it on multiplayer? Should I open the box and try it or just return it?

The dilemma is what if MP is only fun if YOU play it with us?!?!?

having a blast so far, it's pretty easy for someone to contribute even if they stay back a bit and buff/heal.
Plus the 'single player' is completely playable with friends.
