fired up the first game, and totally forgot about one thing I hope they get rid of:  respawning enemies after a certain amount of time has passed in certain zones.  I can see this happening in the 'open world' zones, but if you're in a building/mine/outpost it gets annoying to have to fight your way out after clearing out all the enemies on the way in.  for example:  I was getting the mine key in Sledge's Safehouse level, got all the way to the end, killing all the enemies on the way, fight the boss, get the key, and turn around to find out the enemies had respawned so you get to fight through them yet again.  heck, at one point I ran back to the vending machines in the beginning to sell some stuff and halfway through my selling I started getting shot by enemies that were not there a minute ago.  sure, I guess it's good for the extra XP but it starts to feel like I'm grinding XP after a certain point.

the ability to mod weapons would also be nice.  with the amount of guns in the game they could claim 'an almost infinite variety of guns' with weapon mods.

save anywhere would be nice.  I'm running the game on a SSD and the autosave icon flashes so quickly sometimes I miss it and am unsure if I am going to lose progress when I quit.

Weird.  I have never seen that message on my PC.  I'll look at providing documentation when I get home.

looks like it may have been me not paying attention to the exit screens all the time, because I was just playing and got a different one after doing a mission.  it did indeed say 'your progress will be saved', but only after I highlighted Exit instead of cancel:



not sure why the other message pops up though, did some digging and didn't really find anything that applies to my setup.  I did discover a spot that always seems to trigger autosave though, so if I do get the message again at least I can be sure that it did save something.

While I really, really hope that all the stuff on that list shows up in the PC version at launch, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach.  Just before Borderlands launched, Gearbox made a big statement about how the PC was the lead platform, and that would be the best version.  Then they delayed the PC version to add extra polish or somesuch.  The PC version comes out, and requires a whole mess of fan modding and ini changes before it really gets to the point that its interface can be called "baseline". 

So while I hope they're telling the truth, all this stuff is in, and the PC version is awesome, I'll believe it when I see it.

As much as I love me some Borderlands I have to agree with the above.  I was really close to never playing it again after the launch but finally some fan mode mods saved the game for me.  Why even come out and announce such a blatantly false thing?  Did you not think anyone would notice?  PC Gamers ALWAYS notice.

Aside from FOV changes, I'm playing it stock from Steam and not had any issues with it.  Of course, I'm way late to the party on it.

are you using the Borderlands configuration editor?  the weapon card font text fix they enable is nice; originally they made the text too big so a few of a weapons bonuses weren't showing up.

Nope.  Wasn't even aware that it existed.  I remember hearing about the issue, but I thought they had fixed it.

after reading that I dug through all seven patch notes and found one that mentioned it, so they did indeed fix it.  it's funny, I was so used to using that at release I just automatically grabbed it when I re-installed last weekend.  it's a bad sign when you release a game that makes players so reliant on a fan made mod to fix things that they'll do something like that.

Since I finished playing Borderlands, I've picked up all the DLC on ridiculous Steam sales.  To date, I haven't installed any of it because every time I think about it, I remember that I'll need to figure out all the config stuff I had to do to it, and decide it's not worth it.

Borderlands 2 is finished,Gearbox starting on DLC

Today Gearbox announced that they're officially done with work on Borderlands 2. The full game is in certification, so that leaves Gearbox's hands free to work on the first downloadable content, introducing a new character class: the Mechromancer you see above (note: they're just sketches for now).

This mech-friendly character will be available roughly 60-90 days after the game releases. If you pre-order Borderlands 2, you'll be part of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, giving you access to her for free.
