Yeah that one is my bad.

My digital camera was out of juice - so I thought I'd try and use my digital video camera to grab some footage. Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to save the image any bigger than 320 x 240, and the screenshot system I built resizes all images to 640 x 480 - which is what caused the pixelation.

Anyone got any tips on how to save the video footage at a better resolution as a still image? It's a new Sony HCDR. The software that comes with it is absolutely the most confusing and un-intuitive crap I've ever seen, so I was forced to use Windows Movie Maker.

You know when professional sports undergoes expansion and people start crowing about how the number of quality of players on the field is diluted?  Well this seems to be a big problem at E3.

While some are certainly nice to check out, it appears that many of the "booth babes" have been working E3 since the 8-bit era.*

Judging from the pics I have seen here and other places there is more silicone at E3 than silicon.  I don't like fake boobs.

I'm sure  when one of us walks by the booths and in all of our clever gaming geekdom says 'All your babes are belong to us.' They know exactly what we're talking about and think we are the coolest thing since the compact.

To invoke the sagacious George Carlin, in response to those who would censor broadcast content: There are two knobs on the radio.  

It's very clear that you take personal offense at what you perceive to be the objectification of women run foul of your personal moral code, ATB.  You are entirely allowed this response, but I direct you to a number of threads on this very site that are speaking about other things entirely and therefore will not offend you.  I don't like online gaming, so I don't go into their topics and moan about the bastardization of my hobby.  That's just courtesy in giving others the space to discuss and pursue what they enjoy.

If you choose to take part in the discussion going on here, please bring something with more substance than "Ugg," as this condescension only appears to serve as an effort to improve your own self-image.

There is a unbreakable unwathering unwashable unwhatever fact in this world....  Women are beautiful and sexy.  Us unfortunate men are stuck with being ugly.  Booth babes are not an objectification of women.  They are gleaming diamonds strategically placed to attract us near them.  If there happens to be a video game nearby...  Well when the beautiful female tells us to go away and we have failed to mate, well then we have something else to do.  Great marketing strategy!

If a large margin of women had a problem with this it wouldn't happen.  Money attracts these models and they don't seem to mind.  So.  Unless you find women in general unattractive or have a real problem with gorgeous models making money (which happens ALL the time), theres nothing you can do (except bi*ch).   We here at console gold like hot girls and we think (for the most part) that most of our readers like them too.  That said, E3 booth babes are a traditional part of E3 and we will continue to show them in all their diamond glory (and dream that they will at least say "Hello!" to us.)

I am of the personal opinion that there are better things to worry about.  Like succeding in my job, starving kids, brutal murder and war...  But maybe I have my priorites screwed up?

Now I know that the real problem lies with young girls thinking that looks are everything, being vain and starving themselves.  Here's my solution to that (as it is with every other friggin' problem in the USA):  Get the parents to go Crosby, Stills and Nash and TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL.

We are not promoting the objectification of women.  We are bringing to you the reality of E3.  If you don't like that girls just stand there and look beautiful then maybe you should try and campaign for good looking couples to try and stop having kids.

I've been debating stepping in here, but I guess I can't resist...

And, as a reader, he can also state concerns over the coverage given to certain topics, unless the site staff isn't interested in that kind of thing (and I'd wager they are).

On the subject as a whole...we gamers are an interesting group.  On one hand we complain that no one takes our hobby seriously, that the world, in general, views us as a bunch of hormonal children who have nothing better to do than drool over pixelated cleavage (and the occasional real life version).  From the ads we see in print, on TV, and even at conferences like E3, they must think us the as nothing more than Pavlovian dogs...show a breast, sell a game.

When travesties like the SpikeTV Video Games awards show happen, we rail against the stereotype, we complain to no end about how the show gave more camera time to Jenna Jameson than to all the devs who actually won awards.  We complain about how no one respects us.  We wonder why good games are so far and few between and why publishers continue to churn out Tomb Raiders and their ilk.

Then, when E3 comes, booth babes get more coverage than probably 80% of the games at the show combined.

Now I'm *not* calling CG out over this, so let's not have anyone go and put words in my mouth here.  I do realize that the booth babes are an extremely small part of CG's coverage.  I'm commenting more on the gaming industry/media/consumers as a whole.

Just do realize that there are a certain portion of your readership (admittedly it's probably a small minority) that get tired of seeing this image of gamers as sex-starved adolescents reinforced, even in the slightest.  Also realize that when folks like ATB or myself comment to that effect, it's because we generally enjoy the coverage otherwise.  I don't send IGN an e-mail or post in their forums when they constantly lower the bar on how juvenille they'll go, because I generally can't stand their coverage on the stuff that matters either.

I dunno about the booth babes thing, I'm glad this simmered down. Fact is, we buy games with TONS of advertising/marketing/packaging crap for relatively little data. E3 more posturing and marketting of multimillion/billion dollar companies, and ultimately will bring out the audacity in companies.

Sex sells. <shrug> There are some pretty girls at E3; I find that their presence pales in comparison to the day-to-day exposure given to the female form. I mean, this is the prince's ball and everyone dresses up. Think about how many pearly white teeth are trained on you while buying a slurpee or picking up your groceries.

Even in the seediest 7-11 you have beautiful magazine women; often right beside the porn mags. It's hard to get worked up about a PR event with attractive women when you get this S*it piped into your house at 200+ channels, every minute of every day.

I'm impressed with the number of shots you guys got in this year... next year go booth-to-booth with multiangle, and then build a CG VRML e3. Ooo, and can I get it supersized to go?
