Its like all 3 rolled into one game. Build your team, train them, field them...all set in the Warhammer universe. Gonna be messy. Has a new video if you follow the link.

I'm excited.  I thought this would never happen ever GW sued Cyanide over Chaos League.

I could barely pay attention to that video about 1 minute in.  Something was nagging my brain.  "This music... its so familiar..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkSBz2Ih3xw&feature=related

Not sure if it is a rip off or if the music guy is the same, but it was HIGHLY distracting with a theme so similar.  Its like watching movie trailers where they all use that same up tempo dramatic music for their trailers which I think started with Crimson Tide.

I hate to do this. But I won't buy the PC version because it is going to use Starforce and the developer has made comments that only thieves don't like Starforce. They refuse to change their position and began deleting Starforce posts on their official forums. With that kind of attitude I am not even sure if I will get the 360 version.

Yes, they had Chaos League football.  They also made a hockey version as well.

Blood Bowl is just awesome, its a old table top Games Workshop game.  Looks awesome, and while I would be leary of Starforce, I may be willing to overlook that for this game.

I found a copy of Mutant League football out in my garage a few years ago. Too bad I had sold my Genesis years before.  I'm looking forward to Blood Bowl. I bought a copy of the Games Workshop game a few years back but never got around to painting the miniatures.  I'm in for the 360 version.

I used to play the Games Workshop game, and I loved the faithful turn-based pc game from back in the day. Assuming the reviews aren't horrible I'll definitely pick this up.

Mutant League football was awesome! My friend and I used to have great days with that!

I was particularly pleased that Bloodbowl has a turn-based mode of play! I am TERRIBLE at arcade style football games, and I prefer the more tactical aspect clearly visible here. Football as a turn-based tactical "warfare" sim, I'm all about that. Normally, I hate sports.

The team builder looks fantastic too. That will be a game in itself. I'm guessing that the races will have certain +/- (Ratmen fast, agile, and easy to bash, orcs slower and stronger).

This leads me to my next point - why have we not had an updated turn-based Warhammer 40K game? Sure DoW is fun, but having it be turn-based tactical would be better!

Would love to see a OO/GT Bloodbowl League.

I used to have friends who would do league stuff all year.  New paper reports, drafts, things like that.  They even had a Bloodbowl Wrestling league during the Off season.

Most of the off season stuff was simply filler and story.  But still awesome.  RPG, Football, with Fantasy..smile

I used to play Witch Elves for Bloodbowl, and switched to Lizard Men, much later.  I was horrible at the game, but still loved it.

Just so you all know...

If you have a PSP there is an EA classic compilation that includes MLF, it plays great!  Also includes all 3 Genesis Road Rashes, Syndicate, Ultima: The Black Gate, Jungle Strike series, Wing Commander and WC Secret mission, and a few other titles.  I play it more than anything else on my PSP.

On topic...
This game looks all sorts of kick ass.  As long as I can avoid Starforce I will be all over it.

To be fair my research was from last year, but the devs were being dicks about it and made a post about how they were using starforce no matter what and that only pirates don't like it. I stopped following it after I read that. Maybe something has changed in a year, and I think SF works differently now. But after the Stardock thing, I don't want to support them no matter how SF works now.

(I am sorry for the DRM posts, I am a hypocrite.)

Well, I looked it up, but there hasn't been a good answer on this Starforce matter. Chaos League had it, as does some of Cyanide's cycling management sims.

Certainly I don't want to deal with Starfore again. Disappointing.

Yeah, I looked into it too and couldn't find a definitive answer.  As you have mentioned, though, all of their previous games have Starforce...so why will this be different...I really hope it is smile

Well, I normally don't mind DRM on things, but I have to say that I'm pretty opposed to Starforce. They acted completely irresponsibly in their showdown with Stardock (a Starforce forum moderator posted a link to a place to get a pirated copy of Galactic Civilizations 2 to display how "useful" their program was), and the evidence that Starforce was detrimental to many people's computers is compelling. That is why I am opposed to Starforce, but not as opposed to Securom or other forms of DRM.

Too bad, because the game looks really great. I hope that they either drop Starforce for another type of DRM or decide to use DRM free distribution methods - like Steam - that protect copyright using an online client activation scheme.

The cool thing is that if we disagree with something we don't have to buy it.  We aren't saying to put no copyright protection on it, but even Securom is better than Starforce.

Don't waste your energy, ROTC1983.  Logical arguments don't work with Brett; as soon as he's shown conclusively that he's wrong, he just *resets* and starts all over again.  I've seen it a hundred times now and I just can't be arsed any more.

If they don't go with Starforce I will quite possibly buy it.  I bought and loved Chaos League and played the tabletop Bloodbowl a few times when I was young.  It was cool.

Personally I think copy protection is useless, but I don't begrudge a publisher using it within reason; they have to answer to investors, after all.  But Starforce is repugnant, and so is this developer's attitude, so if they go with Starforce they won't get any of my money.

They were deleting the SF posts on the official forums a year ago. They said they would use it and it was a closed case and then deleted any arguments against it. Even the latest cycling manager had SF, I see no reason why this one would be different.

Isn't SF more like Securom now? No driver installed?

And Brett quit being a drama queen. As has been said, many people have a problem with SF for other reasons. I am not opposed to copy protection, but I am very much against SF.

Chaos League had Starforce as well, did you have any troubles with that?

Also, this copy protection is actually the only one that I know of that actually DOES work. If you try looking for the cracked versions of the games using starforce, you wont find them in many instances. Seems like the pirates just gave up on them and moved on to other games.

okay? well, when they made their last two games, I made a case of investigating it, and the games simply werent there, and the pirates were screaming for it.

The same went for one of the Splinter Cell games, where I also investigated it, since it had Starforce, that one didnt come out in a cracked version, not even 6 months later after its release.

As for current Starforce games, I really dont know, since I dont know what games lastly used SF?

edit: and my other point was the one I made in Huw's case, where SF actually didnt do a single thing to his system, and neither did so to mine.

I really think this is a case of mass hysteria, brought upon us all by the interweb's loudest yellers, making us all assume its pure evil...

The interweb screaming did not make Starforce try to screw over Stardock. I never had problems with SF, and have several games with it on there. However, once they played dirty with Brad Wardell, I saw them for the Russian mobsters they were. That is why I oppose them today. I'll think long and hard about Bloodbowl - and hope that they provide access to non-Starforce client based version - on Steam of Impulse.

Funny thing - I bought Space Rangers 2 with Starforce, before the Stardock-Starforce battle. Just recently, Stardock's Impulse had a sale on SR2: Complete (with the expansion) and I bought it again (for $3 or something). This version has no Starforce - so Wardell eventually won that battle.

And Razgon, your numbers are a bit skewed there. Since many developers dropped Starforce after their antics and the supposition (valid or not) that it harmed people's computers - you really have few developers using it anymore. Ubisoft completely dropped it, and they were the biggest user that I knew of. Honestly, I don't know how the company survives anymore.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you there, Razgon.  I've never know a CP to generate even half as much outrage as Starforce.  If even a fraction of what I've read is true then it really is the most insidious CP anyone's ever made.  And I'm not just going by what people say on random websites; people whose opinions I actually respect, from here and OO, have repeatedly posted about their frustrations and in some cases even pretty conclusive tests that show that Starforce does indeed fuck with certain systems.

It's just so unnecessary, even if it does work (which I don't believe, to be honest).  Plus the guys behind Starforce have proved on more than one occasion what a bunch of fuckheads they are (c.f. pointing out where to get cracked copies of GalCiv and their utterly absurd "challenge" to prove Starforce broke your system).
