Athlon FX-53, Geforce 7800 GS AGP, 2 gigs of RAM and the demo runs like shit, even at 1024x768 and medium settings. Average about 20 fps and worse when the shooting starts. I'll wait until I get my new computer next year before I buy.
Something's not right... I have a comparable rig and the demo runs fine at 1920x1200

What are your specs?  My 3DMark06 score is around 2900.

does the game ever open up?  I just defeated the Surgeon and gotten to the first real choice you have to make but it's been pretty linear so far.

I'm still early on in the game, but the thing that FREAKED me out the most so far....

Spoiler for Hiden:
...in the area after you get the fire plasmid and you melt the ice....there's a shadow on the wall of what looks to be a doctor doing something to a body, but when you get close, the lights go OUT.  I basically crapped then and there.  I had to save at that point and call it a night.  crybaby

I thought that section was pretty open myself.

Spoiler for Hiden:
You've got the option of exploring the funeral parlor or denistry and there are lots of different places to go in the dentistry too.

The game seems pretty much similar to how SS2 worked- a lot to explore in a given area but there is still an overall linear progression, albeit nothing as obvious as the different decks of the ship in SS2.
