Reposted from console forum since I'm playing on the PC: Bioshock 2 is a definite improvement over the original, but so far in the intro segments the story hasn't quite wowed me the way Bioshock 1's intro did, but then again, it's a sequel. That said, I'm not that far in and the story still has some interesting things to it, it poses interesting questions. It's hard to top Bioshock 1's famous intro either.
The gameplay improvements are numerous though. Having both a plasmid and weapon active at the same time is just what was needed. Switching ammo types happens very quickly, and the different ammo types tend to do more than just extra damage against a type of enemy.
Remote hacking works great, and likewise the new hacking mini-game can be completed much more quickly, especially when the game no longer pauses while you hack. They also added hack bonuses if you hit certain blue zones while hacking.
Oh and if you hack a security drone it will actually stay with you for quite some time, crossing levels even. I hacked one drone from the very intro areas and had it stay with me for the next 2 main segments. It'll disapear for story segments, but reappears in the next area. A very cool addition.
Those are just the major improvements from 1.5 hours of play.
The only problem I think is that some of the sounds aren't quite doing it for me, and some of the sounds don't play at all. May be my sound card though since I'm not hearing the security bots shoot.

I can't find it either, I think it's hidden inside the console.

You've gotta be kidding me... I don't see any options to use the 360 controller is it not available?
Research on the forum indicates no controller support despite the first game having it. I'm constantly disappointed with PC gaming lately, might throw in the towel with this latest stint (not to sound dramatic, I've just had problems with nearly every PC game I've installed in the past 6 months).
I thought when GFWL was attached to a game controller support was guaranteed?

I know, it's weird isn't it?
I suspect the reason is in multiplayer. But the tools MS gives to do cross platform support on PC/360 also includes the libraries for 360 controller support.
Oh, and get this, remember that FOV problem for Bioshock 1, where people with wide screen monitors (like me, and a lot of other gamers now) were simply getting the top and bottom of the screen chopped off? It's back.
Even after patching out the same problem in Bioshock 1.
Thankfully, the devs have already said there will be a fix, but if they work as slow as they did before, I'll be done with the game before then.
What's worse is that it sometimes hurts to play at this FOV since I feel like I've got tunnel vision.

I suppose I might as well stick to kb/m since I intend to play multiplayer. Aside from my controller complaint I'm loving the game, they've definitely retained the sights, sounds, and feel of Rapture and I find myself being absorbed into the world and story.

if anyone is getting horrible screen tearing I figured out how to fix it: vsysnc seems to be on by default but for some reason it wasn't working for me: so go to the graphics in options, turn it off, hit apply and yes to accept the change. then immediately turn it back on, apply and yes again. screen tearing go bye bye.

definitely no controller patch, but that hasn't stopped someone from fixing it.

another lttp post. Enjoying this as much as the first game but some inconsistances are annoying/puzzling. You can search SOME desks and file cabinets but not all. Yes there is a prompt but it still bugs me. And little sisters can suck the adam out of some dead splicers but only certain ones. Not one you just fresh killed. I don't get why they mapped the drill to the lmb and the plasmids to the rmb. Why switch them? I remapped those guys right away. Still, a great game. I'm hooked. Playing this right after ME2 and I think the world is just full of great games.

It was in the post. They are shooting for certification in December, with the certification adding an additional up to four weeks. So it could be in December at the earliest and January at the latest.

For Protector Trials, yes. Minerva's Den is apparently in worse shape and they don't really say when, just that they have resumed work on it.

now they're looking at end of January for the Protector Trials being submitted and March for Minerva's Den at the earliest.

Protectors Trials DLC was out on GfWL, but apparently they need to patch the game before it'll work....

Not out yet, that's still for scheduled for March sometime AFAIK but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it slips. Me, I've got little to no interest in Protector's Trials since it focuses strictly on the "fight off enemies while your Little Sister collects Adam" part of the game but will snag Minerva's Den when it hits the streets.
