Hey all I picked up BC:R this morning and I noticed at the home base 0, there is a ton of screen tearing on a 1080p output with HDMI.  Is anyone else seeing this as well?

EDIT:  This is on the 360.

A quick glance around the interwebs shows that the PS3 version apparently doesn't have the screen tearing that the 360 version does.  Well I got screwed, if I had known there was a diff I would have waited for the PS3 version.  People with JP accounts say there's a demo on the PSN there. BOO MS!!

PS3 version also supports remote play... so if you feel like some swinging action in the bathtub, you got it.

This game is a lot of fun.  I also enjoyed the snarky demo comments.

I have some tearing here too on Stage 0, but it's not that bad and Stage 1 seems fine. Fun game, need to figure out how to beat the Stage 1 boss though.

for the first time ever, i really regret getting this on xbla.  had i read about the psn version and remote play, i would have got that version instead.  plus, the damn d-pad is so wonky and the analog so loose that it makes some of the directional swinging a big pain in the ass.  the only + to getting the 360 version is the discount on points cards i got so it makes the game $7.50 instead of 10.

overall, no tearing that i could notice (1080i over component) and the graphics look nice.  has all the nuances of the original with a nice layer of polish.  plus, i like that it saves progress after every full stage.

$15 for the pc version, apparently for "market reasons".

Played for about 20 minutes this morning and loved it.  Gorgeous interpretation of the original's visuals.  I mostly played through the tutorials and fooled around in the first level.  You can tell from the Advanced Tutorial that there are going to be some crazy difficult sections in this game.  Also, could not figure out the hacking game to save my life.  I must've missed a tutorial or info on that.

If you remember the NES game, yes, there were some crazy difficult sections in the game. Mainly the last level or two. But they also told you in a sense that you'd become a master of the grappling hook of doom.

ok, the d-pad is really getting me annoyed.  both against a boss and again in 06 i was constantly getting screwed by hitting the wrong grapple at the wrong time.  it's just too damn unreliable.  if i'm trying to swing at an angle, it's a good chance that i'll grapple straight ahead instead.  getting the timing down for an angled swing followed by a vertical hang stopped me from getting past the boss in 02.  it's frustrating.

i am really hoping that i'll get adjusted to the 360 controls, or i will be pretty much done with this game.

Apparently, there's yet another reason for me to take apart my 360's controller and sand out the d-pad hole. Stupid joystick.

What does that do for you? If this is a "d-pad" upgrade, please share. biggrin

Quote from: From the Link
As you can see below we have a xbox 360 wired controller. The problem with the d-pad is that the d-pad has no room to breath. It's sunk deep into the controller shell without enough space for it to rock back and forth. This causes it to frequently hit the edge of the 360 controller shell which in turn blocks it from hitting the appropriate contacts. What were going to do is shave some of the plastic off inside the d-pad well. This will in turn create more space for the d-pad to move and allow all your button presses to work the first time!

IIRC, MS had the wireless tech locked down from third parties for a while though I think they recently thawed a bit on the issue.

Wait, didn't Nintendo's 1985 patent on the original D-pad expire? That's better than the 360 dpad, so I think they should upgrade. biggrin

I just did some more searching and apparently the code is for the new BC game that's still to come out later this year.

Anyone else managed to get to the very top of the home base level?  There's a brutally hard series of swings above the place where you get the first revolver upgrade that I finally managed to get past.  But you get in that room and it's a complete WTF moment (not the good kind, I just don't know what the hell to do).  Let me know if you have and if you know what to do in there.

Room contents:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Two levers on the ceiling.  Pull one all the way out and it instantly snaps back, doing nothing.  I was thinking that it was a co-op only thing but then I noticed if you drop down before you pull it all the way out, it goes back in much more slowly.  Still can't figure out anything else to do in there though.

Picked this up on the PS3 after trying demos on both the 360 and PS3.  What sold me on the PS3 was quicker load times and a better D-pad.  Played through the first level and did just fine.  Kept going through trying to find the two secrets in the level.  Found one and I think I know where the other is, but don't have the skill to get it.  Graphics look great and I used to play this a ton as a kid, so it is nice to play it again.
